....what is it about fall that you like...?

...the unmentionables go back to school.

...tourist season is over.

...instead of slathering on SPF 75 every two hours, this slave can just put on a sweater!

...harvest time.

and of course,
...the associated Holidays of the season.

In some parts of the country they have boring weather... but there are a lot of places where the leaves are changing colors and put on an awesome show, the mornings (and nights) are crisp and the days are shorter and not so warm. I like the fall.... it just screams that winter is coming!!! I love the winter!!

LET IT SNOW!!!!!

I dont like fall, the weather turns colder and I freeze when the temp. drops below 60.  I dont like winter either..Summer is my favorite.

Springtime I'm burnt out from climbing over the hills all winter long looking for sheds

Wow....how cool!!! I've always wanted to get into doing this more seriously. I often look for them when I'm out mushrooming...but I think that by then most likely they are gone.

It's quite addicting....sorta like a treasure hunt! This may help you get started in the right direction.... I'm not sure what animals you have locally so I'll cover em all.... Moose are usually the first to drop (Dec. Jan. Feb)...Whitetail (Dec- late March)... Muledeer (Feb-April)....Elk (late March-May. These are general guidelines and there's many exceptions. Get on em quick because it's highly competitive and the squirrels, porkies, etc. chew em up real quick. If you have the time...scout your animals...see where the boys are hangin....DON"T push em...sit back and watch. Once you notice several have dropped....go in and scoop em up! The problem is pushing the animals.....a fine balance of being the first in there and not disturbing the animals. It's hard on em when guys are trying to get in there first....they are weak from winter and you also don't want to push them out of the area either. It's a delicate thing. Don't forget your binos.... Enjoy and good luck!

L A,
I  understand that feeling.
My first year in south Florida was crazy.
I missed the  cooler temps...but most of all I missed the colours,
and the mountains..
There really is something very erotic about Autumn.
I love New York.

Nothing better than an autumn evening in an English forest, preferably with the light aroma of someone burning leaves a way away. The sun low in the sky, the light skipping through the ferns, the eerie quiet as the trees prepare for their winter sleep.

Winter for me is too cold with its biting wind, and summer too hot with bothersome flies harrying overhead. Spring comes a close second to autumn, but for totally different reasons - the life of the earth pushing up from below to meet the strengthening sun is something tangible through my whole being, infusing energy into tree and wanderer alike.

I love all the seasons, but fall is indeed wonderful, erin. The first respite from the brutal Texas summer, the holidays on the way, football begins, baseball goes down to the wire.... it just feels like I can breathe easily for some reason.

What do you two mean by "sheds"? The wooden kind?

Lol, I am glad you asked, Level.  I thought maybe it was some type of wood building also, or snake skin.

I will go to the corner and put my dunce cap on now.

Fall is a beautiful season with the leaves changing colors, the cool breeze during the day but it's bad in the fact that with the temperature change I almost always end up getting sick (not yet though..knock on wood)

For colour, nothing to beat it; for things drawing to a close, appropriate, but have to say, Winter for Me does it every time. Reason to eat all the "warming comfy foods" real fires; woolies, all wonderful things. As for the glow of the land when it is all in its wonderous white, well bring it on, I say.

I didn't realize how much I'd miss it until living in Austin- I guess technically we're in the fall because highs are only in the 80s and there's some more rain and the daylight is fading.  But leaves really haven't started to change and there's no real sign of what I know as "fall."

Spending almost my whole life in the mid-Atlantic area, you get used to feeling nippy at nights at this point, starting to break out the hot cider and hot chocolate, wearing jackets and long sleeved shirts.

I miss "fall."

Howdy, Welcome to TEXAS. Say goodbye to snow and hello to ice and sleet when we hit that 20 degree mark. Fall will hit around November a maybe a  cold front in the 40's.

I enjoy fall very much. When the cold fronts hit, I can finally begin to wear my trench coat. At most, I may wear it 20 days out of the year.

I wish I could love fall, but the changing seasons mean headaches and the sniffles (I'm not sure if it's ragweed or the heating system kicking in, but it always happens, no matter where I live).

The leaves are awfully pretty though.

Fall:

Enjoying the luxury of sliding naked into flannel sheets
Feeling a chill when ya get outta bed
Grass grows slower and needs less mowing
Gardening slows down and I can rest a bit
All the bulb catalogues come followed soon by the seed ones
The occasional waft of scent from a wood fire
Cooking is WAY more fun
Eating is WAY more fun
Watching bucks with velvet-covered antlers get frisky
Lots of calving happens
Hawks & eagles abound
More socializing with neighbors/friends as weather makes travel less likely
Colors here are like quilts; ambers, russets, golds...OMG it’s a visual orgasm!
AND….my dog stops shedding

Where do you live?  Ain't no calving or eagles or bucks with velvet-covered antlers in suburban Philadelphia.
