Are you referring to the World Bank instead?  Many object to its operations, including collecting debts from third world countries.

Yes, I object to the operations of the World Bank. I primarily object to their issuing of loans to Third-World nations... loans that that they know damned-well will go into default. Then they send in their henchmen to strip them of their natural resources at fire-sale prices.

It's a dirty dirty game. And the guys who have played it had better pray to God every day that there ain't no Hell! ... [;)]

Or that they expect U.S. Taxpayer Dollars to "make good" on those "loans" like the big banks do!
EVERYONE wants to involve U.S. Taxpayer Dollars in their schemes!

Might want to read "Confessions of an Economic Terrorist" if you feel like learning more about who is pulling the puppet strings, as well as how it is done.

I believe the title of that book is Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.

My bad.  You are correct.

The Federal Reserve is a quasi governmental agency. It is privately owned by elite shareholders,

Everything the Federal Reserve does is publicized, and a matter of public record.
The Federal Reserve does nothing in secret.  It has no assets, and no shareholders.

Every government has to pay interest on money borrowed.  Why would anyone
lend government money free of charge?  Would you?

> Why don't we issue our own money instead?

We do.

There is no mystery here.   The Fed has been doing a pretty good job.  It is one
of the best fuctioning agencies we have.

Heh.... Did you know the current Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke, has been given the nick name ''Helicopter Ben''  Do you have any idea what is behind the ''Helicopter'' connotation?

He got this nick name after he gave speech in which case a theoretical problem of a world-wide depression was posed. He was asked what he would do get out it /end the depression? His answer was to print an inordinate amount of dollars, load them up in helicopters and drop them on people’s lawns… that way they’ll take the cash, go out and buy things and re-inflate the economy.

That's a true story - And he wasn't joking..... you can google it and see for yourself.

Why don't we issue our own money instead? Oh geez, I forgot... Lincoln and Kennedy both tried that. But they didn't live long to tell about it though. Hmm... strange coincidence.

Subfever, i have a friend who is a bank examiner for the Feds, and i assure you, the GAO has auditted the Federal Reserve annually, just as it does all federal agencies.

www.joltsearch.com/search.asp?mt=government%20accounting%20office%20audits%of%federal%20res

BTW, i would really like a citation for your assertion that the Federal Reserve is not fully governmental and in fact has shareholders.  This assertion flies in the face of everything i learned in Banking Law class.

Your questions about governmental interest are not easily answered.  The Federal Budget annually reports income from interest payable (presumably the repayment of foreign aid loans).

The U.S.Government cannot simply issue "more" money, rather than paying interest in the trillion dollar budget deficit, because to do so simply devalues the existing money supply...a phenomenon known as inflation.

As an aside, i have heard about the apparent "coincidences" between the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy.  Considering other presidents (Garfield and McKinley) have been killed while in office, i find this attempt to link the two events on a par with -- o, say -- the writings of Nostredomeus.

Ahh... my mistake. I left out a key word in my statement, which should have said "The Federal Reserve has never been fully audited."

Bad, bad subfever! ... [sm=whap.gif]

Sorry, and thanks for pointing out my error.
