GoddessOshun -> Sacred BDSM (10/3/2006 12:13:51 AM)

I am looking to find others who have experienced sacred play and sensual magic. BDSM is a very powerful tool when used with intention. I know much energy and flow can be transmitted through Worship, submission, pleasure and pain. I am very interested in stories or experiences and traditions........
Blessed Be.

I like this topic. I'm going to mark it for later (as in tomorrow after sleep when I can devote brain cells which are not cat napping).

Is this for research, personal enlightenment, fellowship.. something else? Just curious.

Be back to it later...

Celeste

I am.

My original draw to the scene was the trance potential in flogging. Within my first year of the scene, I was introduced to a group of gay pagan bdsm practitioners from whom I learned a lot. After spending a week long retreat with them up in the mountains, I went looking for various related trainings and went on a reading rampage. I hunted for a magickal trad, NLP books started jumping off shelves at me, and I'm not a certified master practitioner of NLP, certified health practitioner, etc. I started holding events with that group, took sex educator training, started studying paganism, tantra, etc.

I have been holding ritual bdsm events for close to 15 years now. I teach classes in ritual bdsm play, sex magick, tantric play, etc. I'm currently in the process of becoming a certified tantra instructor. I run several chaos magick forums on various sites. I'm a nominal expert in astrology, a certified hypnotherapist, an ordained minister, etc.

And how do you see NLP as having an application to magical, sensual, or ritualistic bdsm?

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Sacred BDSM (10/3/2006 8:05:31 AM)

Many of us do. If you are interested in such, I HIGHLY recommend two events. One is Butchmanns...ok, the actual name is the APEX Academy in the Butchmanns Tradition. This is a VERY small (under 30) event that teaches 3 pillars of SM in a spiritual way: cathartic flogging, ritual piercing and mummification. Go here for more info: http://www.arizonapowerexchange.org/academy/index.htm

The second event is a national level Ms event with a heavy spiritual track. Southwest Leather Conference is held each year in January. This year, we expect over 200 and we have the ENTIRE hotel to ourselves. This hotel is extremely tolerant…and even fly the gay pride as well as the Leather Pride flags outside for us. How cool is THAT? At the end, there is a Dance of Souls where you can participate on any number of levels from Watcher to Dancer. In this event, ritual piercing is used for Hook Pulls, Ball Dances and such. http://www.southwestleather.org/.

There's lots of info on the net about SM and spirituality. It's only in more modern times that SM has been seen as an affliction rather than a practice with which to reach the divine. Many cultures have SM ceremonies as rights of passage, ways of achieving transcendental headspaces and reenactments of famous religious happenings. SM is a useful tool in this, not just a hot sex thing.   Speaking of the hot sex thing, SM can also be used in Sacred Sex. The bond between Top and bottom can be very intense and sex has its own power. The two combined can be mind blowing and just as, or more, cathartic than SM alone. I practice this, too.   Master Fire

Haha, how can you be a Tantric that dislikes Yoga? Lol. Seriously, it sounds interesting, I have a bit of interest in various occult practices, including the shamanic experience, but lately I've had agrowing interest in Yoga - I dunno about all the pretzel stuff, but the Shakras, Mantras, etc., the mental side - know of any good resources on the web?

GoddessOshun -> RE: Sacred BDSM (10/3/2006 11:56:28 PM)

Mostly just looking for like minded people to share knowledge with.... I have been doing healing work off and on for a while and looking for all the information and personal stories anyone wants to share. I have been recieving acupuncture and that has been very powerful. Also just my own research into traditions that use some SM as enlightenement.

teamnoir -> RE: Sacred BDSM (10/4/2006 2:12:41 PM)

Um, sure. What would you like to know?

I see NLP as essentially a meta-magickal tradition. Much like chaos magick, it a framework for understanding and incorporating other techniques. It has many very flexible techniques of it's own, as well as a strong set of models from which to work with.

So... it's essentially a structure for creating ritual, largely through trance induction, though not exclusively. It's also a very strong basis for understanding and setting goals and working intents, which are a critical element of ceremonial magick and sometimes of ecstatic ritual as well.
