Just sitting here laughing.

You know, people, Citgo claims it was THEIR idea not to renew their relationship with 7-11. It's right on the first page of their corporate website:

But mainly that's bullshit; the real reason for this is that 7-11 is going to switch to their own branded gasoline (though that didn't stop 7-11 from making a parting swipe at Chavez):

Anyway, all of you in the 7-11 cheering section ought to be aware that two current honchos at 7-11 were former honchos at Citgo:

Not entirely true. 7-11 is owned by the Southland Corporation. True most franchisees are from pakistan.
However a franchisee only owns 49% of the business. Southland keeps control of 51%...they can remove a franchisee at any time for any reason. Most are ripping off the company.
Problem is with the business strategy Southland gives them you cannot make a profit and the only way to make one is by ripping off the corporation.
Plus..owning a 7-11 is dirt cheap as far as franchises go. If you are a corporation employee you can own one as cheap as 10,000. A pakinstanee can own one as cheap as 30,000 which our government gives them to help out the immigrants.

Don't ask how I know so much....I could go on and on.

I would ask how you "know so much", cause those figures aren't even in the ball park. Depending on the store size the initial cash payments are around $150,000 to$200,000. You also do not own the store, only lease it from Southland.

Nice catch on that one! So the contract was at an end anyways. with a company that they had owned but sold. What a patriotic move. Not the least bit convenient. A real moral statement.
And by the way, CITGO is selling heating oil at lower costs to help out impoverished Americans. Obviously a political jab, but what the hell, it helps. 7-11's jab is helping themselves.

The 7-11s are predominantly owned by people from other cultures because, for the most part, people from the United States do not want to invest the kind of time it takes to successfully run a turnkey operation that is open twenty-four hours a day. It does not fit well into our idea of a desirable lifestyle.

Obviously missed it LOL, the dateline that shows the current date caught my eye instead of the smaller actual dateline in the article, LOL

I missed the sale of Southland last year, before the sale the Thompsons ran Southland, When I lived in Dallas of course we heard all the Southland news, since it was a "hometown" business.

All similar stores in the UK are also operated by immigrants - for exactly the reasons stated - the Brits owned these stores and opened at 9 and closed at 4-30, with a half day closing once a week and always closed on a Sunday. Very convenient.

The Brits sold the stores to Pakistanis and Indians and so on, and now theyre open around the clock, with a much wider range of goods on sale, at lower prices. They even open on a Sunday, and some are even open at Easter and Christmas.

Disgusting - imagine trying to make a living by adapting yourself to a market, rather than the market adapting to you, and working harder than others to succeed. Damned foreigners - its just not British.

Depends really where the store is. There is one by Disneyland that would sell for over a million. Go about anywhere else and you pay considerably less.
I know a friend well more than one. Though one franchisee now who owns 5 7-11's. She bought them all for ten grand a piece as a corporation employee.
Correct, you never own the property. You own the rights to use the name. You pay your rent to 7-11 and they stand over you at every move you make. No franchisee in the United States really owns anything. They just work and slave to give over 51% of their profits to someone else.
