Bob Woodward: Bush Misleads On Iraq

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2006

(CBS) Veteran Washington reporter Bob Woodward tells Mike Wallace that the Bush administration has not told the truth regarding the level of violence, especially against U.S. troops, in Iraq. He also reveals key intelligence that predicts the insurgency will grow worse next year.

In Wallace’s interview with Woodward, to be broadcast on 60 Minutes this Sunday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. ET/PT, the reporter also claims that Henry Kissinger is among those advising Mr. Bush.  http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/09/28/60minutes/main2047607.shtml

Woodward hasn't done an honest days work as a journalist in years and certainly hasn't done any recently.  He has been a hack on a par with Judy Miller.

I'm still holding faint hope that Woodward will burn the bridges that he's kissed ass to build. He has gotten good access into the administration by being pretty tame. I hope he comes out with all of it at some point.
I have pretty much given up on Powell spilling the huge plate of beans he must have.

Here in Canada, a reporter had a past PM on his line. Taped candid talk for years. Then he wrote a book and burned the ex PM bad!! The exPM cried foul? All the while knowing the guy was a reporter, knowing the tape was rolling. An arrogant fool that got skewered on his own words and felt betrayed.

A good reporter is a wolf in sheeps clothing, chameleon and shark. And goes for the kill when the time is right.

Woodward may just be a sheep though.

I actually watched All the Presidents Men last weekend and I found it kind of funny because when the Washington Post started getting attacked by all the Nixon people it looked like history is almost repeating itself. It was funny because in the movie it was the "liberal press" with an agenda and not reporting of the facts was the Nixon beleivers cry. Redford playing Woodward even mentions that he is a Republican in the movie.

Woodward for those who have read up on the man and not decided by things he has wrote, is a very old fashion, value oriented person who values line him up as being conservative but is not and quite frankly too old to be an agenda pushing first, facts second, type of reporter. I think the most personal thing though he has talked about is feeling a bit tricked when he was writing the post 9/11 things on the President, but I do not think that is the reason for an attack/agenda against the Whitehouse on Iraq now. He is just reporting.

That being said, what exactly is the news here. That Iraq is going very badly or the Whitehouse sees thing more optomistically then most. Everyone including Bush agree that Iraq is not going well in the general sense. Even Bush has stopped talking about progress there and just focuses on people wanting to "cut and run".

Face it.  It's gettting to be election time.  If you don't have a substanitive point to make, the best way to get elected is to attack your cadidate.  Challenge their patriotism.  Keep people in fear.  Do anything to not have to defend your own position on something.

And the media and the sheeple just eat it up.  After all, it's cheaper and easier than thinking.
