Missokyst -> Pain for pain's sake (9/22/2006 6:35:56 PM)

I have known I was a masochist for many years.  But I don't think I am masochistic in the same way that I understand most others are.  I totally get that pain with erotic play is pleasurable.  I have enjoyed that happily most of my life.

But I am talking about unexpected pain.  Like the accidental stubbing of a toe or the lingering pain from a burst blood vessel.  Are there others out there like me, that can use that sort of pain and push it into satisfaction?
Maybe I am just weird wired.[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m21.gif[/image]

There answer to the question "does anyone else...?" is always YES.

It's rare, but yes, some people do have the ability to be able to transform nearly all sensations considered "painful" into "pleasureable."

As I respond to this I am sitting here with about 70 staples in my abdomen and countless layers of stitches below those. I can't say that I can use this sort of pain to gain any type of satisfaction...other than the satisfaction I get from having endured it with some semblance of grace. I don't think though, that I process this pain in the same way that most other people do. While I don't process it to gain satisfaction...it is not a devastating thing for me either. I've always had an unusually high tolerance to pain...sometimes to my own detriment as I have often not been able to use the sensation as an accurate guage of the severity of a situation. It can also cause problems because whereas in most persons pain will seriously curtail their physical movements, it does not seem to affect me in that way and I will often "overdo" despite the pain, which can be damaging. As an example, just about an hour ago I knocked over a glass of water and it went down behind the nightstand. Without thinking about it I simply moved the nightstand to mop up the mess. It didn't dawn on me until about 15 minutes later that the doc said my weight restriction is "nothing heavier than a cup of coffee".

For me pain for the sake of pain isn't something I enjoy... When I was sixteen I got into a fight with a plate glass door, and the door won. It earned 80 some stitches, cut the main artery and lacerated just about everything... Years down the road I developed bercidus, my shoulder is constantly annoying me. It hurts all the time, and probably will for the rest of my life. However, it's something I am used to.

Stubbing a toe usually pisses me off hehe. Although anything else mostly causes me to laugh at myself.

I used to get accused of masochism all the time, reason being that no matter how grueling or brutal the boxing/taekwon-do/wrestling/ju-jitsu match was, I always walked out of the ring with a beautific smile on my face. I absolutely adore the sensation of taking a hard right to the jaw, and coming right back with one of my own. Although I was never quite sure if I adored the pain itself, or fighting through the pain. just a matter of perspective I suppose.

MsKatHouston -> RE: Pain for pain's sake (9/22/2006 9:25:59 PM)

I have a pretty high pain tolerence but it is just that...a tolerence.  Without some sort of erotic stimulation I don't derive any pleasure out of pain.  With it, there are some forms I can enjoy but nothing like what I can dish out ;) Definitely like being the giver.

I'm rather jealous of that ability though.  I would love to be turned on every time I stub my toe, bump my elbow or bite my tongue.  I'd be in a perpetual state of arousal though...

I have always found this hard to explain even to myself and have only just got to understand it. I don't like pain at all. I get no pleasure from pain. I take it because it is something my Master enjoys inflicting. What gives me pleasure is seeing what it does to him. Seeing the look in his eyes when he is inflicting it, watching his face. That is the biggest turn on for me. Is that an odd thing for a slave to admit?

Avrilkiller -> RE: Pain for pain's sake (9/23/2006 1:34:28 AM)

Not me, lol....i have to be in the mindset for it. It's easy to turn on and off, but things like knocking my knees or hitting things? Owie!
And if i stub my toe...that's the worst. Generally, the offender (often the hamper outside my door) recieves a horrible beating.

Kedicat -> RE: Pain for pain's sake (9/23/2006 2:25:00 AM)

I suffered decades of pain with Crohns, accompanying bouts of kidney stones.
After an operation the pain is relieved. I cannot tell if pain would have an erotic context in me. I have always suppressed it. It is something that is a pleasure to be rid of.
I do have a high pain threshold due to it. But a stubbed toe or unexpected burn is still just irritation.
When inflicting some pain in play, I enjoy to a point that is defined by the sounds/body language of My partner.

I have no inner connection from pain to pleasure. But a good experience of pain, to give pleasure.
