A friend at work just told me that Her
Husband and another friend
are spending a week down in Texas being on
the border.
They are not being paid, it is completely voluntary~

Is it to late for us to beef up the border?

People say we would be bankrupt
in America  if it wasn't for
"Illegal Aliens?"

Do we Bat an eye, turn the other cheek?
We need to clean the problem up.

Here in Phoenix, we had "the march of illegal aliens". Must have been 10,000 of them.   Not one thing/business stopped functioning.  Maybe next time just stick a finger in a bucket of water to see what kind of hole it leaves.

What people around the world do not  realize.. is that we DID these jobs before they came, we can do them if they leave.

RE: American Laziness-  We are SO lazy, we actually invent things to do our work for us.  I have two robots myself- one to wash my floor and the other to vacuum it. We work Smarter.. not harder is all.

We have no desire to keep ANYONE from immigrating here.. we just want to have them do it legally.  If a foreign government can issue instructions on how to get into America illegally.. it can hand them the paperwork to  apply to get in here LEGALLY... but this is discussed elsewhere.. so my response to this thread is in the 1ST and 2ND paragraphs.

The country won't fall apart if the illegal immigrants leave.  It just means that OH MY GOSH! we'll have to do actual difficult and/or dirty jobs.  Gee, how horrible.  Such is life, y'know.  In reality, anyway.  Honestly, I think a lot of lazy Americans need to get over themselves anyway.  The selfish level in this country is getting high enough to drown in.

Immigrants should come in legally, or not at all.  End of story.

Best way to prevent illegal immigration? Bring back slavery and auction them off to the highest bidder. See how many think that might be a better life!

Goodness that was exceptionally fascist of me..... must take some more pills.

Actually as things go on more and more.. I have to say I do feel sorry for the situation. Desperation makes people desperate things.  Coming here to willingly do  TJWDWTD -"the jobs we don't want to do" is nothing more than voluntary slavery. I don't think the future here is going to be the rosy future they hope for..

Now it's getting emotional.. the noise of "let's take over" will do no good.. what are they going to do with it then?  It's like your friend has a car.. He drives it like hell.. never does maintenance because his sole purpose is to go to and from work to just survive.  His car brakes down.  He asks to borrow yours.. you loan it to him. You tell him how it works and how it needs to be maintained so it  lasts.   He then runs it into the ground like he did his car.  So what do you do? Help him run each car into the ground and keep moving from one car to another?  Or do you learn how get the most from your car?

HOW can we help, I guess is my question. Just open the borders so they can do slave labor be used and abused by big business?  Heck, we can't even help ourselves these days.

As long as there is greed inthe US.. there will be victims.

Just me musing today.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean that the Immigration Department in America will get the process right.  I have a close English friend who started the immigration process almost two years ago.  The INS lost his paperwork twice and sat on his case for awhile longer, only to eventually reject his case.  He's a law abiding, educated, professionally employed person who did things the right way (including getting a lawyer), and it didn't get him anywhere.

It angers me that people can come in illegally and have a better chance of staying in this country than those who go through the proper channels.  I really fail to see how the INS will handle the incredible number cases that will be coming their way when they have so much trouble with one.

Be well,
Julie

now I know I'm talking out of my ass right now, but I think the law states you must be a full time resident in the U.S. for a minimum of two years, before even trying to apply for citizenship, unless you are claiming asylum, in which case you have to wait five years.

Although I have sympothy for where Illegal aliens come from and how horrible their situation may have been ext. However I believe we should keep beefing up the border until the problem is resolved to a managable amount. "It just means that OH MY GOSH! we'll have to do actual difficult and/or dirty jobs. It has nothing to do with the actual jobs they do it's that they work for well under minimum wage and don't have to pay taxes. Which means they are not contributing to our goverment. We are all ready over populated, and there are less and less jobs everyday for various reasons but if we kicked them out of the country millions of jobs would open. Point is in america AMERICANS should come first!!!!

Of course, in the next few decades, as more and more Americans retire and have fewer young Americans to take their place in the job market, jobs will be plentiful. But money to pay for benefits for the elderly wont.....

He wasn't applying for citizenship.  It was an application for an unconditional residency of 10 years.
