I dislike cops. I don't view them as heroes either. Sure, I have met a few nice cops, the vast majority have been assholes. The thing that always annoys me most is that most cops will bust people for doing things that they themselves also do on their off hours. Talk to a prostitute/money domme and you will discover that some of her clients work for the government and that a good number of them are cops. That's hypocrisy of a very high order (also it's very much politics as usual).

Firemen I like. There is almost never a case when a Fireman isn't basically helping the community out for real.

First, who cares?

Second, what does that have to do with any of the questions asked in the OP?

Seems to be a lot you do not like.  [8|]

I also dislike suits and cadillacs. Are you for hire, rentboy?

I think Longarms and NastyDaddy hit the nail right on the head.  More than once.

First, the OP was obviously distasteful, venemous spew disguised as a supposedly innocent question.

Second, policemen put everything on the line to serve and protect, including their families and their lives.  It is only fitting that their departments want to honor a fallen comrade in such a fashion.  The military does the same thing.

The news?  They only care about what sells.  Sensationalism.  They do not give a shit about facts.  They do not care about people.  They care about money.  That is all.  A police funeral?  Someone shot down by a nasty criminal?  That sells papers.

I have been arrested, charged and convicted of an offence I did not commit.  So yeah, I have a personal reason to dislike police (and the justice system).  I have to do two years probation for something I did not do.  I have seen the system abused on many occasions.  However, it is unfair to paint the entire regimine with one brush.

Of course if you like you can always see what life is like without police.  I would like to see you bitch and moan then.  *sigh*  [8|]

Do emergency workers protect you from feloneous criminals?
Do they take on bank robbers with machine guns trying to steal your money?
Do they arrest and apprehend your domestic partner who is armed, drunk and beating your ass up?
Do they take complaint statements from you and press charges against those that violate you?
Do they hunt down armed escaped prison or jail convicts?

I have alot of respect for good cops.  But lets not try to saint them all.  Theres plenty of corrupt ones running around too.

When is telling it like it is trying to saint someone?  The OP was a contemptuous whine.  Pointing that out, plus listing a few differences between emergency service workers was needed to stop ambulance chasers posting support for the whine.

I asked questions the OP never answered... but the answer is actually in another thread where she states she worked three miserable months as an EMT, before going back to stripping.

So as you see, there are indeed saints everywhere, aren't they.  What's really ironic is that I don't particularly like cops myself, and know first hand some are bad apples. But that doesn't make me stupid.

Points well-taken.  :)
