I was in college and a big Real World fan when Pedro Zamora died. I was surprised and confused by how hard I took it.

I cried with my wee one when Steve Irwin died. He idolized that man. He had just told me less than three days prior to that how he wanted to visit Steve at the zoo in Australia when he grows up and he wanted to tell him he loved him. When I told him Steve died, he began to cry and said "But I didnt really get to go see him!".
It makes me cry thinking about it. Im sure I would not have taken it so hard if it wasnt for my little guy being so much of a fan.

Edited to add: I also felt very very sad when John Candy died.

I'm sure there are alot if I sit and think about it but the one that comes to mind first is Johnny Cash. I was force fed country music growing up (parents wouldn't allow any other music in the house) and I grew to really dislike it...but for some reason I have always loved Johnny Cash.

i have to agree with the poster that mentioned Jim Henson......without giving too much away i work as a puppeteer, so it was a bit like losing the great pioneer..,........

Also Ian Drury........my one great regret in life (thats not just maudlin) is that i never got to see him play live.........

Robert Heinlein.  I couldn't believe there wouldn't be any more of his books.  He had a profound effect on my developing sexual attitude at an early age.
