LotusSong -> Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 11:28:01 AM)

I just had a spontaneous recall of a dream last night.

I dreamed I walked into my living room and found it in disarray. I noticed a pile of black feathers and realized my pet crow was on the floor. (I don't have one..but in the dream I did)

My cat had  torn off it's left wing. I picked it up and pressed it back in place and wrapped it with a gauze bandage. The bird ws going into shock.   I then franticallly tried to get 411 to get the name of a bird vet I knew for surgery on the bird. The operator could not find it.  I couldn't find any vets in the yellow pages.

I'd forget the 4 letter surname of the vet I was looking for in the middle of my search only to remember it and call 411 again for help. One of those eternal loop dreams of urgency and frustration in calling for help.

Any dream interpreters out there that can help?

I am going to say it would depend on what the crow signifies for you.

Agreed.  Most likely the dream is expressing some inner anxiety over a dark spot in your life or your body right now.

Having studied Freud a little, the interpretation is obvious. You have a major phobia of whales brought on by the sight of a penis when you were 6 years old.

My only reference is the Native American symbolism represented by the crow.  (Which I believe is a harbringer of death)

The wing was starting to stick into place but I knew it would never fly again. Just a really weird dream.  I do have a parrot I  keep inmy living room.  He sits out all day and  travels around his main cage to the parrot playpen next to it when I am in the house.  But I dont' "feel" that it's a warning.

The overall theme of the dream was darkness, twilight, urgency, andfrustration.

M. LS-

a domestic facet of your life   (a housecat)
 inhibits the power of a search for the other   (flight, wisdom, darkness)
you know what is needed   (veteranary surgry)
but cannot find it.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

LadyEllen -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 11:42:18 AM)

Now more seriously.

I'd guess that the crow represents your subconcious - a black thing which can fly off but which is kept under control in the house. The cat represents your concious - a proud and beautiful creature which is given free reign. That the cat attacks the crow indicates something in your subconcious which your concious is attacking in a bid to prevent it emerging; it rips the wing off to immobilise it. Still though, whatever this thing is, its important enough that you dont want to lose it, but though you can put the wing back on, you cant exactly identify what the crow is - this might be why the vet's name you cant recall also has four letters. Maybe the key to what the crow is, is some significant word which also has four letters?

I just think your nuts Lotus

Alternate opinion

The bird represents a penis that the cat is after but being a tad bit dom the cat screwed up the bird.  The cry for the vet is a cry to put the cat and the bird back together again in harmony.

Hmmmm, its four letters and it also begins with a "c". Is there something youre not telling us LS? LOL!?

PrimitiveLogic -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 11:51:42 AM)

I try to focus on the theme more than the images. The frustration of not being able to complete a task speaks to many things. Upcoming test/something due/bills/meetings/the fear of not being prepared ...   I wouldn't get hung up on the symbols as much as the theme. Dreams and sleep cycles are our pyschic sectretaries. They do our filing and processing of the day as well as our unfinished business.  Think to what you are facing...postive or not so positve; both create a current deep within.

MissTlTTYMilk -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 11:52:28 AM)

edited and pleads the 5th......There is also a book called  Zolar's Enclopedia and Dictionary of Dreams  that is very handy but may prove insightful as well as woeful. It not only works as a dictionary but also lists various types of scenerios within the context of the itemed looked up or dreamed about in this instance.

LotusSong -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 12:12:34 PM)

Usually my dreams are a play on words.  Such as, a crow might interpret to "having to eat crow"  but I would have fricasied it in the dream.

I live on a bird sanctuary and lately there have been mallards that have been run over in the street.  Most here take care to give them a wide burth but there have been two smashed in the past week.  I was hoping it wasn't the start of vandalism on the lakes.  The duck I saw yesterday was so crushed that all that was remaining was a wing fanned out and poking skyward.  I'm deciding whether I should call the park patrol and give them a heads up or just write it off to an unfortuanate co-incidence.

An urgency of my morning was when I checked my bank account.. I had a glaring RED balance in my checking which is unusual so I called the bank to verify when the floating check would clear.  No problem.

I also recall a secondary deam- again in  shades of grey.. where I was in either a school or a mall with so many doorways that I started to get lost.  It also had the "bathroom scene"..someone walks in and you realize the door cannot be closed or you forgot to close it.  However, I have pretty well taught myself how to lucid dream and I chat with my characters in my dream.  In this case..I smile and wave and go "oops" :)

It could be representative of my CM experience here. I've been more open about my experences here than anywhere else. I guess I wonder if that is a wise thing deep down.

I would not object for anyone to use this thread to post dreams that we need help understanding.  It doesn't have to be all about mine.

I dream of being raped by a dozen 16 yr old virgins.   but I don't know that many.   In fact I am not sure there are that many left anywhere.  Course it is hard to rape the willing.   wonder what this is all about

stockingluvr54 -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 3:34:06 PM)

Have no idea Lotus about how you may interpret your dream..?????

I rarely ever try ..much less interpret a dream? However...I did have a real VIVID dream once that probably helped change the course of my life at that time. Actually had 2 dreams during that period in time that really stand out and I can still remember them to this day...one is the VIVID dream and the other one was a recurring dream that didn't hardly ever vary..always the same.
  I'll try and set it up and explain them (these ones are real easy to figure out their meanings but it does make you wonder about higher powers, etc?)
Here goes... Last time I was in jail was for 1 year (dui, resisting arrest, tearing up the squad car,etc.).... I had the VIVID dream that went like this... I was being escorted into the back of a squad car and kept saying to the coppers "Ya..I'm drunk...lets just go"... Then one of the cops says "Do you know what you just did?".... I say "no....what?"... They say "There was 2 people in that car you just hit and they are both dead!" I can still relive that dream..it's still soooo clear in my head...I can even show you the spot on the highway where the dream happened.  I honestly believe that is when I subconsiously hit my bottom and decided to quit drinking/drugging....???

Now the reccurring dream was also happening when I was nearing the end of my 1 yr. sentence. I put in for my "good time" which would have meant 2 weeks off my full sentence and I was always asking the guards... "Did my good time go through?". The reoccuring dream would happen almost every night during those last few days waiting to hear about my good time request. The dream was always me climbing up a steep mountain with brush, trees, etc. I was always slipping and sliding back down....always out of breath and to weak to make it to the top? A variation of same dream would be me pushing a Harley that would barely run (like it was running on one cylinder or worse).....alsways pushing uphill and running along side....getting winded.....run out of strength, etc. and never ever get to the top of the hill? Wake up in a cold sweat everynight.
  Here's the good part.... I FINALLY get the word that my good time went through and I'd be released the next morning. That night I had the dream again about climbing that fuckin mountain again...struggling...out of breath,etc.....but this time I made it over the top and much to my delight....there was a huge group of folks, live music, people clapping and cheering along both sides of the street as a staggered down the middle of the street! I'd finally made it!

  Pretty easier to figure out those dreams...struggling and all but that is when I turned things around and I honestly believe that those dreams (especially the VIVID dream) were a turning point for me.

Just thought I'd pass that along.....

sub4hire -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 3:56:21 PM)

My mother was an old german woman.  Any sort of dream with birds in it meant death was going to pass your way.  The bird was in your house.
Death and helplessness.

Although onto my disclaimer.  I've probably read at least 15 books in my lifetime on dream analysis and I still know nothing.  Though, that is what my mother would tell you.

Level -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 4:16:42 PM)

You wish to see life "take flight", this is the bird.

You feel life is not what you want, much of this from a political standpoint, this is the damaged left wing.

The bird is black, representing darkness.

The repetive attempts at calling for assistance and not getting it, represents your attempts to to do so in real life, such as here at CM, and not getting the desired response.

I don't believe any of that, but it's what came to mind.

LotusSong -> RE: Dream Interpretation (9/7/2006 4:50:38 PM)

Now those are wonderful dreams :)

Impusles are the best to read.  The left wing might fit.. As far as CM, I do more "sharing" than questions :)
