Master96 -> Over mail! (9/4/2006 1:15:25 PM)

I quote from a female slave’s journal entry this:

Due to an overwhelming response to my ad (over 1,000 messages and growing) girl will no longer accept any messages……..

Do you have time to read all the messages you receive?

I wanted to send that person a message but I didn't.

Master96,

When a new female profile appears- no there really isn't.

After a few weeks- yes, unless they tries to respond to EACH of those initial messages, and then they just make it worse for themselves.

Master96,

If you try to send email to new people, you're doing just what everyone else does.  If you're really interested, give it a few weeks- that will let you take time to see if their profile changes to suddenly being owned, or disappears.

Yes, I get relatively few messages. I guess my profile scares people off. Must be the furry thing...... :P

mstrjx -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 1:21:29 PM)

With all due respect,

The 1000 mails that she received were all, obviously, from people undeserving of her attention.

You, on the other hand, are much more responsible, caring, and truth-be-told, her perfect mate.

Aren't you doing both of you a disservice by not even trying?

Just a thought
Jeff

I definately agree with LA on that.  Heck, I'm not new, but if I take the time to respond politely to the messages I do get (roughly 3-8 per day) I end up spammed.  Basically if you reply, even with a polite 'not interested' you still get them hyped up and typing up a storm to try and engage you in conversation.  Two days ago I ended up with TWO PAGES worth of correspondance with 4 different guys.  It was a mess.

Grins, I listed diapers in mine. That seems to cut way down on mail volumes.[:D]

I must be odd then. Or just disinterested, I never respond unless someone says things that really get my interest.

zumala -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 1:28:56 PM)

It goes against my upbringing to be rude, Homestead.  And for some reason ignoring someone trying to talk to me falls in that category.  I'm getting 'better' though.  I delete anything that's overtly stupid or rude.

SexyRed -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 1:30:00 PM)

I get alot of emails. And, I will take the time to respond even to say thank you for a compliment, etc. I especially will make time if someone writes me who tries to engage in intellectual discourse or comments on something I wrote.

I will not reply to morons, rudeness or those who just say Hi. I don't know how those people can even expect a woman to reply when they made no effort.

I'm not being rude by giving a clear signal of disinterest. I'm saving the person time.

zumala -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 1:32:18 PM)

*chuckle*  You'd think so.  There sure is a lot of regular griping on the boards about how nobody even says a polite 'no thanks' in reply to contacts.

Sooner or later the one-word emails just dwindle away. Especially if you are very literal and reply with one-word answers. Amazing how that works!!

If my email disspears, that's an answer. I don't get all upset over it. I don't even think some puffed up sour grapes thing like "thier loss!!!!"

My intent is interest. Not in being validated.

Mavis -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 2:10:32 PM)

i put "666" under the lbs section.  It cut if off to nil.   it's funny, if you scroll way down, it says it isn't true, but by then most have gone "YICKKK" and slamed it shut.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 2:15:39 PM)

To the OP
I do have enough time to answer all my messages now.  I certainly didnt when I first signed up.  I made a judgement call back then, and anything that didnt contain sentences, was a rude comment about my pictures or some other bit tey didnt like in my profile, or was an obvious cut and paste profile email got ignored. I returned the ones that seemed to have actual interest in making contact, as well as finding a few of my own to talk to.
Now, though, after putting that LoverForDomme is mine, the messages are hit and miss, and usualy have to do with convincing me that he is all wrong for me, and they are perfect. Those all get answered, but I have a cut and paste response for them. It makes it easier.

That's part of why I rarely, if ever, initiate conversation with any of the women here. I realize they're practically under siege from people trying to get an "in" with them, so I figure any further conversation I add is going to act like more unwanted noise.

This means I rarely, if ever, actually connect with anyone because even though I'm attracted mostly to dominant women, there's still the traditional stereotype of men having to initiate contact with a woman, even if the relationship is opposite of what is traditional.

GeekyGirl -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 3:55:30 PM)

I know that I've been absolutely bombarded with emails! In the beginning, I tried to write polite notes to the effect of "Thank you for your interest, however, you are [outside my age range, not local enough, etc].  However, after the first 50 emails or so I stopped doing that. Just didn't have time. It just amazed me the HUGE number of people who just completely ignore what you say in your profile. If I specifically say I am looking for men close to the age range of 30-35, then why would a 55yr old man message me? If I say I'm looking for local people only, why would you message me from across the country? If I say that I'm looking for a monogamous relationship only, then why would you message me if you know you are married/part of a couple/etc?  I understand if he's just dropping a line to say "Hello and welcome" or "Just wanted to compliment you on such and such" etc but I recieved literally hundreds of PROPOSITIONS from men who were not what I was looking for.

However, despite all that, I do take the time to read each and every email, just hoping that ONE special person will be there. So far I've been sorely disappointed. However, if you think you are indeed exactly what a girl is looking for, by all means do let her know! I know I'd just love to open up my email and find an intelligent message there from someone I might actually be interested in!

behindmirrors -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 4:24:00 PM)

I get quite a few messages here- it certainly takes more time to get through them than my work email! The ones I get most frequently are from male Doms looking for me to chat with them- when I send them the rules I am to follow for this, they generally never respond again, haha.
When I was new, the first day on the site, I recieved 12 messages. I do take the time to respond to each, regardless of how pointless it may be, but it's often just to restate the information on my profile. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's my "down time", and I get the choice on what to do with it.

diamonddreamlove -> RE: Over mail! (9/4/2006 7:09:39 PM)

I answered all of my email.  When it started getting too crazy i took my profile off to be inactive until i could somehow answer and be polite.  Besides the first email from someone unless they are completely off the mark tells me very little about who the person truly is.  I suggest You send the email to whoever catches Your fancy and let them decide whether to answer or not.  Remember it is consential and i believe that is implied in email as well.

I make the time to do so. But I have never mentioned the volume I receive, nor would I. To my knowledge she would be unable to disable this feature unless she simply chose not to respond. I have always offered a respectful reply regardless of the tone or number of messages received. It doesn't take very long to say thank you.
