Eyesopened makes valid points about teens not thinking clearly, but it has always been that way. How many teens do you think click, the ā€œI’m 18ā€ thing to enter a website?

This whole thing smells to me. Plus, you saying you want her to tell you others who talk with her in an adult way gets you involved heavily as someone else pointed out above.

There are so many possibilities. It could be someone wanting to know if you would talk to a 15 year old. It could be cops. It could be someone trying to make you say they are underage when they are, in fact, legal. It could be a rival website. You putting the onus on CM to weed out those who lie about their age is presumptuous. So they email her and she says she is 18. Now what happens?

I would ignore someone so fast who said something like that. I would not care if she was 18 or not. Just the fact that she plays that game would make me run.

The fact that she told you she was underage is the best reason of all to ignore, or at least stay totally clear of any adult text conversation.

I am a long way from 15..lol..but if I were and wanting to learn as many have said here, would I have told my real age, nah.  The knowledge that she lies one minute to obtain information than states that she is underage at the next breath would make me wonder if she was a 15yr old girl at all and not someone trying to cause you issues.

Report it to mod one, or click the button on the bottom of the page for support, They will help also.

I'd also block the profile on both sides of CM, and on any IM you might have her on (i.e., yahoo, MSN, ICQ, etc).  I'd also save everything you have on her today, including screen saves of you blocking her.  Between tv shows, various "cyber angel" sites to protect these legal minors, and rampaging fathers, it's better to be safe than sorry...

good luck.

I would advise contacting Mod One as others suggested.  They may or may not elect to delete the profile based on what you can tell them but if they have had prior messages or if they get more messages with the same information, then they may take action.  I have reported at least one profile here for that reason and it was resolved quickly.  I just reported one a few days ago with another BDSM site and the profile was deleted and an email sent back to me within 12 hours on a holiday weekend -- lifestyle sites take this very seriously.

I have talked to some people who ran (and may still run, this was awhile ago) a paid personals adult site at a BDSM event I volunteered at.  They knew of profiles on their site that were being used by law enforcement agencies and volunteers.  It is pretty safe to assume there are at least a few profiles like that here and the staff at collarme may or may not be aware of them.  I am sure that the staff here would cooperate with law enforcement as the law and decent ethics require.

Although you may not have verifiable proof to show the mods that does not mean that there is no proof on collarme.  If I were you, I'd suggest they check her emails and the chat logs.  If they discover proof, the profile is gone.

Ethically, there are arguments for educating minors and in a more perfect world I might consider it.  There is information I don't share with some adults or online because I'm not sure if what I tell them will be used responsibly.  I can't justify educating a minor with today's society.  The safe bet for me is to report the profile and move on.  The underage users will see why adults feel that is necessary a decade or two down the road.

Educating minors is a damned if you do, damned if you don't issue.  In this case, I feel pretty strongly that the lesser evil is not educating them.  There will be time enough for that when they turn 18.

I can't believe some of the responses... 15 is ok, don't leave a 15 yr old ignorant or she'll get pregnant, all 15 yr olds do it, etc

These are PARENTAL type decisions that should be made by PARENTS... NOT online BDSM lifestylers!

What right does anybody online... let alone BDSM lifestylers have to make PARENTAL type decisions for minors?

If you consort with known minors online as a BDSM lifestyler, you are undermining the child's own PARENTS. How would you like to have that "favor" reciprocated for your own child by an online "BDSM friend"?

The ONLY appropriate measure is to report minors, whether known or suspected.... unless they are your own kids!

If you consort with your own minors, then BOTH your asses should be gone, very simple.

Excellent advice by the majority of you.  There is a consensus I feel to ignore her which I'm more apt to do.  I think there's something inside of all of us wanting to protect however there is the possibility that this 'person' is actually the authorities.  I did not copy and paste our conversation.  That is unfortunate on my part. I asked her to let me know if others try to discuss sexual content with her.  Now I think I'll just ignore.  It's a volatile situation at best.  It truly caught me off guard and I wasn't sure how to handle it.  On one hand you want to do something but on the other hand anything you do could be held against you.  Quite a 'catch 22'.  I'm leaning toward the 'ignore' advice.

I find your actions admirable, but myself,I would at the first sniff of underage, report the profile,it is not worth it to leave alone.Lots would like to close sites like this down, why give them a valid reason. It also makes me wonder how many other underage people use this site, who have not been honest enough to digress their age.We should all be very aware.

If you think about the true mentality of the teen female, you'll figure she probably isn't one of them.

Most do NOT think of their youth as a point of appeal.  An older women might pretend to be 15, a guy passing himself off might claim to be 15, but the ONLY thing a 15 year old girl wants is to compete with adult women and will never admit to being 15.  they want to be 24.

One tactic the more sohpisticated OCI (online crimes invest.)  mostly uses 18 years old profile.  Because that's legal age, it allows the suspected perv some measure of comfort.  It's only after they get comfy that the girl has a friend who is curious too.. and you've been so good at explaining things, can you talk to her too?  but gee, she won't be 18 for another few weeeks..  the ages don't go down until the suspect is comfrotable.   Eventually, a guy who was diligent about ages is likely to be willing to meet with someone just shy of legal. Believe it or not, they use males for this not because they can think like young females, but because they can think like males, so they can hit your buttons better.

That's not the pattern we all saw on the 20.20 expose on online pervism, but remember, they didn't go into how long the suspect was in contact with them, or what the initial contact age was purported to be.

Anyway, don't worry about educating this girl, if she truly is a minor, she found collarme, she can prolly find LeatherNRoses.com and read articles there, information is free, she doesn't NEED a helping hand to read.  There is no case where an adult needs to hand-hold a minor seeking information.
