When I was looking for a dominant I was in contact with several at the same time. I did not specifically state how many dominants I was communicating with, but I let it be known that I was not putting all my eggs in one basket immediately. There were two dominants that were rather miffed when I stated that I wanted to devote my time and attention to One, instead of scattering my attention among many. Under what you propose they could label me a "time waster", even though we have to spend time with many to narrow it down to the one. I do not approve of such systems of labeling people based upon the criteria you propose. It isn't fair, not that anyone I would bother getting to know approve of such a "shame" list. Anyone worth my time would dismiss that sort of nonsense.

I don't expect each and every missive I get to lead to instant gratification. Some are just for fun.

The only real wasters of time are those who demand things I am unable or unwilling to give to them.

Hello NorthernSwitch,

However it was stated, childish or not, Benji and Nasty are quite correct. The care you take, or the common-sense you apply online, is no different to that which you apply if you meet a chap/girl in real life.

There's a risk involved in anything you do and doing what you can to lessen those risks is all you CAN do.

Some people can handle the risk of trotting off to meet someone who may not show up, as they've borne in mind the chance that it may happen.

Without wishing to appear cynical......it's a pretty good idea to keep a little in reserve until you know someone rather well. It's got little to do with *intellect* and a lot to do with common-sense. No-one is going to look after you......... except you.

While it's interesting and often educational to read people's thoughts, ideas and opinions.......advice is a bit different.

*fast reply*

I've seen threads by people being cyber-stalked, people being harassed by others who, after being blocked, changed their name and started harassing the person again and other such doggie poo (no offense to Benji).

Let's remember folks....this IS cyber.  And there already is a way to deal with these folks.  The block feature works very well and reporting actions that are scary to the Mods might help too.  Good advice has been given out.  Don't give out your address or home phone number to anyone until you are sure about them.  Don't assume any sort of r/t relationship UNTIL it IS real time.  Don't accept some Doms collar (or don't offer one) after a few "chats"...unless you are into velcro.  And, don't come here crying that you've been hurt/abandonded/crushed by some Dom/sub because they disappeared/died or otherwise no longer show interest in you after a few days.

Common sense.   We are all supposed to be adults here.

Sunshine

Seems to me the timewasters are those who post yet ANOTHER  thread about "fakes" and how victimized they are by them.  Even though there isn't much diaper fetishist here, there sure as hell are plenty of adult babies!

Well, I think naming and shaming is a bad idea on this website, it will just turn into a hearsay thing, with everybody flaming one another. Won't be productive at all. Now here is a story I like to share:

The other day, I sent a local woman a message asking me if we wanted to meet up. I gave a pretty accurate detail about myself and my lack of expierence in the scene. She replies with "What is your expierence and what is your phone number?" I replied, but then I realized something.....she didn't read the message,  because I told her what my expierence was. So I un-sent the message and blocked her from my list (good thing I did it before she read it) Was I disapointed? Yes. Did I move on? Yes.

In the interest of full disclosure, and a good example for everyone else, I would like to point out that I am a dick. Not a time waster really, but a dick. I should probably be ignored.

Just curious, but how long did it take you to find this thread?

On a more serious note, we enter online at our own risk, *smile and really, if we tend to the meeting/greeting/mating situation from a matter of fact perspective, it is the inevitable delete key that rules, and the exclamation of NEXT! that takes precedence and moves us right along.

I read someones profile today and a comment in their journal really got me thinking.  Im sure most people have experienced it, whereby somebody emails you when you have explicably wrote you are not interested in men/women.  Maybe the reply you got to a well wrote email was abusive or maybe the person just used you for a pic or bit of fun and then made a new profile.  It annoys me and im sure others that these people do what they want and there is now way we can warn each other about said people due to the rules of the site.  I for one believe in name and shame where its proven and clear they have done wrong and would like to see the rules change or something done to stop this happening.  Please post your own feelings on the subject or your personal experiences, maybe if there is a big enough response something will be done or at least you can have a rant and maybe feel better.

i love time-wasters, scammers, hypocrits and those who out me. i have learned to make them an experience that makes me feel superior.

Paulsgirl, you rock!
Don't you just love these types of people?
Makes you tingle and get the warm fuzzies inside.
