Fast reply.....
I am getting kind of tired of any discussion of PLO-related terroist activities degenerating into an arguement over whether the Israelis are worse than the Palestinians...it makes no damned difference which side did what first, there is no justification for what Hezbollah has done and continues to do.

Wrong is wrong is WRONG.

Level,

I think you need to reread what I wrote:
quote:

While I believe that Israel was justified in going to war, they did start the '56 and '67 wars.

Merc:

Two thoughts:

The Jews (a people I love, especially their women) gained control of that land in 1352 through the use of genocide and thus by definition took it by force from someone else.

I assume you would support the UN if it chose to give the land that Israel occupies back to the Palestinians.  To say otherwise is hypocritical.

My point in all of this is not to say one side is good or the other bad.  Simply that both sides have suffered wrongs and both sides have legitimate issues with the other.  This dispute it complicated and there is no clear good or evil side, both sides have a great deal of innocent blood on their hands.

Why are some Americans so zionist?

It's a great evening, the chicken is grilling nicely and that alarm clock goes off damn early

Munich.  1972.  I remember.  I will support Israel getting a lot more aggressive than they are now.

I reject people who hate like that.

fair enough, but who are "they"? the PLO? I despise PLO and Hezbollah, but they acted out of desperation as Israel has always treated them as second class citizens and opposes them having their own country. Not all Palestinians are gun totting terrorists, one must remember.

One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.  I will give you that.  You fight with what you have.

I look at the goals and tactics.  The Palestinians DON"T want their land most, they want Israel to not exist.  The King David Hotel was British Headquarters, a pizza parlor is the target of cowards.

Strange how Israeli targets are always legitimate even when they only succeed in killing civilians.

CD,
These were land purchases. Cash in the case of Alaska, and compensation in the case of California. In both cases the transfer was done by treaty signed by the prevailing government's of both countries at the time.

Since you are so fixated on who was the original deed holder of Israel:
quote:

Israel first became a nation in 1312 B.C.E., two thousand years before the rise of Islam! Seven hundred and twenty-six years later in 586 B.C.E.  these first ancient Jews in the Land of Israel [Judea] were overrun and Israel's First Jewish Temple (on Jerusalem's Old City Temple Mount) was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, king of ancient Babylon. Many of the Jews were killed or expelled; however many were allowed to remain.  These Jews along with their progeny and other Jews who would resettle over the next 500 years, rebuilt the Nation of Israel  and also a Second Temple in Jerusalem upon the Temple Mount. Thus the claim that Jews suddenly appeared fifty years ago right after the Holocaust and drove out the  Arabs is preposterous! Source:http://www.masada2000.org/

Actually I think you will find that the Israelis were not the first deed holders to that plot of land, Moses was implored by his god to commit genocide to obtain it. It's all in the bible for people to read, I posted the chapter on one thread or another.

No, I saw what you wrote . I simply put up some links discussing the origins of the two conflicts. 3 posit that Israel did not "start" those wars, 1 supports that they did (I was too tired to find another 2 to "balance" things out, I must be in line for a Fox News job lol).
