Nancy Pelosi has announced her retirement from Congress, ending a decades-long career that saw the California Democrat become one of the most powerful figures in US politics.

In a video message on Thursday, Pelosi said she will not be seeking re-election to Congress at the end of her term in January 2027.

Pelosi was first elected to Congress to represent San Francisco in 1987 aged 47, and quickly rose through the ranks.

She was elected by her party to be speaker of the House in 2007, becoming the first woman to serve in that role. She served until 2011, when Democrat lost control of the lower chamber, before returning to the speaker's chair from 2019 to 2023.

https://www.collarchat.com/m_5107417/tm.htms Chuck Grassley a sprightly 92

Trump 78
Biden 82

Chuck Grassley 92
Nancy Pelosi 85
Glitch Mitch McConnell 83

Lets not beat around the bush all that lot are senile as fuck, except perhaps Nancy looks like she is in charge of some 70% of her marbles.

But even then those ages are ridiculous. What other morgue people am I missing? Bernie still has it so gets a pass. Despite his years he is in touch with the full generation spectrum and the other two Dems I guess so. Those 3 Republican's are not.

Politicians should have age limits, coupled with term limits. Retirement age. Most politicians basically fleece their denizens and are beholden to their elite donors. The last time I looked up the American Senate most were millionaires, some tens, to x100.

Anyone think these fuckers care about the 90%?

I liked Nancy Pelosi. She was a very effective speaker of the house. She got stuff done. That's said, even people I like, its time to retire. we have too many seniors running this country. Im not ageist as long as they can do the job. But yeah, I'd like to see some younger blood in there.

Charles6682 I agree with everything you said. What little I know about Nancy was the last 10 years and she struck me as decent. I have no idea what she was like in her prime or if she still in it which is why I used the term 70% marbles.

I did think about mentioning ageist in my thread.
The reason I didn't was because some of America likes only one type of equality absolute basked case king authoritarian. You are about to ban gay marriage now.

We did see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Paul_Pelosi over here

I suspect Nancy could cut a deal for 60 votes. No shame in that.

The most common comment I get from UK and EU women is your Presidents are too old. That lot aren't always dumb.

They liked Obama but that was about it. They always mention Sanders to me.

Biden I have a few thoughts of my own. Bashing Trump, Regan and both Bush's is easy.

I have no inkling who you vote for but with Nancy she should have served her 2 terms maximum. 12 for the Senate and 6 terms for the House which she has hasn't she? And even then the cut off date for the ancients should be 70.

Your Senate and House reminds me of the House of Lords.

What is AOC like? I have yet to have a good look at that one.

What Nancy, indeed all politicians should do, is when they serve 12 years they can pass the chalice to their prodgies. I mean prodigies not nepotism bullshit. If that snowflake Comrade Boscox enters I thought Clinton was a corrupt elite in it for himself.

Which of your Houses is the most powerful? I presumed it was the Senate but it is the other one isnt it?

I see Dick Cheney died this week.
He came good near his end.
Did you ever think if he toed his dark master trump line the Republicans wouldn't see power for 20-40 years?

What I saw of Liz I liked. Trump got rid of her didnt he.
