pqwinny -> RE: Leadership and Dominance (7/31/2006 8:04:46 AM)

i like a topic that makes people think, especially if one of them is me. As i'm reading through the posts i can't help but be reminded of a statement i heard several years ago which has stuck with me ever since..."People don't do things to others, they do things for themselves." i've reflected on this many times in many circumstances and it comes to mind again in this discussion of leadership vs. dominance with charisma sprinkled in. i find myself thinking, it's not so much about what the 'other guy' has to offer me in and of itself, as it is a factor of what's in it for me. Not a politically correct admission for a submissive but in all honesty i think we are all (i.e. all humans) motivated by ''what's in it for me' whether we care to admit it or not. So whether the attraction du jour is leadership, dominance, charisma or whatever...the bottom line is whatever it is, if it feeds a hunger, that's what draws me to it, keeping in mind that no character trait stands alone or works in isolation-everyone is a unique orchestra of traits. i'm gonna keep chewing on this one, thanks.
