Having the capacity to lead, and actually getting it done, are two entirely different matters.

Disaster after screw up, after crisis, after cluster f**k, show that Lindblom, Peter, and Bennis were absolutely right*... in fact they were just reporting the painfully obvious that no one wants to admit to.

*(So does the percentage of failed relationships, in or out of the lifestyle).

Leadership is organizing and facilitating couple or  group effort to go where the couple or group wants to go. Dominance is getting the other person or persons in the couple or group  to go where the dom wants to go.

Great post Buxom Goddess - i especially agree with the fact that "low lifes and drug addicts" can have great charm, they use it to manipulate, abuse and get what they want out of people.

i like a topic that makes people think, especially if one of them is me.

As i'm reading through the posts i can't help but be reminded of a statement i heard several years ago which has stuck with me ever since..."People don't do things to others, they do things for themselves."

i've reflected on this many times in many circumstances and it comes to mind again in this discussion of leadership vs. dominance with charisma sprinkled in.  i find myself thinking, it's not so much about what the 'other guy' has to offer me in and of itself, as it is a factor of what's in it for me.

Not a politically correct admission for a submissive but in all honesty i think we are all (i.e. all humans) motivated by ''what's in it for me'  whether we care to admit it or not.

So whether the attraction du jour is leadership, dominance, charisma or whatever...the bottom line is whatever it is, if it feeds a hunger, that's what draws me to it, keeping in mind that no character trait stands alone or works in isolation-everyone is a unique orchestra of traits.

i'm gonna keep chewing on this one, thanks.
