Mavis -> How to make the big connection. (not) (7/27/2006 11:45:13 PM)

i'm not sharing this to pick on anyone, this Big D isn't a member of CM that i know of, but i thought this "conversation" was telling.  Good example of how to stir up that submissive spirit and have us falling at Your knees.

i have edited out His name, my comments and questions, leaving just the pertinent stuff.

     hi
   how ya doin' ?

Me: pretty good, Yourself?
    ok
   not too much
   just hangin'
   lol
   ok
   oh
   lol - ok
   cool
   I understand
still lookin' for a nice sub
   ok -
   lol
   yup
   ok
   ok

Me:  it's going to take more words than the occasional "ok" to engage a sub enough to show her Your potential as a leader.
   correct
   oh

you aren't a sub - are you ?  (LOL. Geez.)

Point being, If You take the time to get a girls IM handle, and actually IM her..  have a discussion topic or something?  What's odd is this fellow is bright and engaging in a chat room, just seemed to be on another plane when trying to talk one on one.

He likely had a handful of other conversations as well.  It's normal for a dom to be a nice peacock in a public forum to catch the eyes of the hens in the chatroom and then blast out about 5 IMs at once and see what he can get strung along.

Are you sure they don't have disassociative identity disorder? I mean, it looks like he was carrying on an entire conversation... See, watch-

Okay? Well, what are you in the process of doing, old chap?
  not too much
  just hangin'
Hangin'. Hah! I find your modern colloquealisms to be an uproar!
  lol
  ok
Okay indeed! Y'know, I'm wearing a monocle right now...
  oh
Yes, that is the shape of a monocle... An 'O'!
  lol - ok
  cool
I don't like to use that term anymore... It reminds me of the time I went to antarctica to find a lost tribe of penguins. The sherpa... Didn't make it. His last words, as I held him in my frostbitten arms, were... "Cool."
  I understand
still lookin' for a nice sub
Oh, yes, subs are tasty, as well as penguins. Quiznos has some kind of barbecue-flavored thing I want to try... You want to drive out there sometime?
  ok -
But you're paying! Hah! Too late! You already agreed to it!
  lol
You up for Mountain Dew?
  yup
Awesome. I'll pick up a 12-ouncer, lolz.
  ok
Alright, I'm off. It'll take a while, as my only means of conveyance is this slipshod hot air balloon.
  ok

How dare you, sir! Do I look like a german-made underwater machine?! I should think not!

See? If only we could hear what that poor, tormented dom could...

Oh my! Gotta live one there. Well look on the bright side. Back in the dark ages of dating (before internet), you could have ended up sitting at dinner having that exact same conversaton. And worse yet, no cell phone from which to take an emergency call!

Mavis -> RE: How to make the big connection. (not) (7/28/2006 1:36:05 AM)

Kage, LOL. ok, fair point taken.  My additions to the dialogue were things like do you like this site or that site, have you read this article or heard this newsbit, have you been to the local group thing..  how did that work out.. i guess if i had known the only answer options would be yup, ok, and cool, i'd have asked if he was wanking.

LA makes a fair point as well, it's likely He had several of these engaging convos going on at once.  i hope He was able to copy and paste the replies to each, saves time in multi-tasting.  <grins>

SexyRed -> RE: How to make the big connection. (not) (7/28/2006 6:00:20 AM)

This is something that seems to be going around, the lack of ability to engage in a conversation. And it is not dependent on what is written in a profile, they can have nothing written or a novel, I get the same type of thing or the stupid questions.

Oh. Damn. Well, typing that up was the most fun I've had in a while, so I guess my debunked theory wasn't a total loss.

When people start giving me a lot of monosyllabic responses online, regardless of what I'm saying, I tend to let the conversation die. They must be busy with something if they aren't capable of coming up with more than an 'lol' in response to all the weird crap I talk about. For a dom to contact you, then pull that stuff... Ehh. A tad on the rude side.

I guess, on the upside, at least he didn't make you waste too much of your brainpower. *shrug*

I agree with you 100%! I cannot even begin to come up with a number for the many quick endings to online "getting to know someone" I have had. Especially if you refuse to talk about kink or sex! How many times have I asked........"so tell me about yourself" and gotten a brief few words and then nothing. Or, back to kink....I don't want to hear how much the vision of  peanut butter squishing between my toes turns you on, I want to get to know the person. Talk to me dammit!! If they cannot be somewhat intellectually stimulation online in the first few conversations I am pretty certain they will bore me to tears in person also.

Mavis -> RE: How to make the big connection. (not) (7/28/2006 2:01:13 PM)

i feel silly keeping this thread alive, it's one of those middle AM rants that really serves no purpose, i mean, we all know it only goes for "Me too"s.  i feel kind of petty and get the bonk for stating the obvious.   Please forgive, i hope we all get one silly space-waster.

[sm=ofcourse.gif]

Could make something productive out of it if anyone wants to include some suggestions for what are GOOD ways you've been chatted.  i have alot of friends that share link tours to certain sites, interesting articles, 35 second online games, music clips of fav artists, etc.

Sinergy recently posted a really great game i used toplay with friends online.  It's called fling the cow.  Holding down mouse button places cow on catapult, then releasing flings it at a bullshot.  It's so stupid and addicting becsuse at 30 seconds a game, you can always do "just one more try!"  http://www.arcadedevil.com/go/1211/Fling~The~Cow.html

Music clips are good quick-shares too..  my current fav is http://FrankLight.com  check clip 1 & 4, they're less than 40 seconds each or so.

Anyone have the current link for "75 bands"?

These are more like ice-breaker links, but topics like that can get an interests discussion going that doesn't involve discussing personal practices to the extent you're just providing wanking material <g>  If there is interest, i'll make a new thread, "Ice breaker topics and links".
