I'm not happy with either.

And I'm tired of hearing one way or another from people who clearly aren't concerned about bias, but are concerned the bias isn't their way.

I wonder what a totally unbiased, objective news outlet would even look like any more. Perhaps Judge Judy could run it. 'Just the facts'.

I may be doing her a disservice, but I suspect that Judy leans to the right, at least a little.

I don't think that's possible. But we could certainly come much closer.

This, however, isn't a "can't" problem -- it's a "don't want to" problem.

And the public is as culpable -- or more so (can't sell coverage no one buys/reads) -- as the publishers.

I actually explained this to all

Read it back to me dear all

Right. And why doesn't the public want to watch objective news reporting?

Because it won't be full of ridiculous crap about nonsense that doesn't matter, hysterical rants from lying cunt claiming to be the voice of reason, and pre-chewed ideology that saves them the bother of trying to understand stuff for themselves.

As am I. Anyone with a modicum of sense knows the difference between commentary and news. Except the reporters...at least, not anymore. When you have outside (not connected to media)sources corroborating other outside sources that over 70% of the NEWS coverage is negative and focused on one topic, that's not news coverage, that's an agenda.

Musicmystery -> RE: If the media isn't liberal, what is it? (7/21/2017 1:55:45 PM)

Or click bait. Depending on the publisher.

tamaka -> RE: If the media isn't liberal, what is it? (7/21/2017 2:08:55 PM)

It would be an interesting experiment to see how well a station would do if they just provided objective reporting.

Musicmystery -> RE: If the media isn't liberal, what is it? (7/21/2017 2:29:35 PM)

You mean, as if they were a news organization?

Interesting idea.

What the fuck are the two of you talking about and does it have anything at all to do with the OP?

Who the fuck knows, and no of course it doesn't, his posts never do, even when it's his own topic. That's what happens when a chronic alcoholic drunk posts.

They would go broke, because the right wingers would pressure their advertisers, and the left wingers would too. The one thing the U.S. public does not want is objectivity, they want confirmation, not reality.

MrRodgers -> RE: If the media isn't liberal, what is it? (7/21/2017 7:52:19 PM)

I'll go with the MacNeil/Lehrer Report to on PBS. Their objectivity...is not biased.

It's off now. Jim Lehrer left a few years ago.

Has anyone been following this??
The Sinclair Broadcasting company?

Ill give the wiki for it and also this interesting video/info from the brilliant John Oliver...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinclair_Broadcast_Group

John Oliver: Sinclair Broadcasting brings 'troubling' rightwing bias to local news
On Last Week Tonight, the host discussed the dangers of Sinclair Broadcast Group, a rightwing media network, acquiring a slew of local news stations
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/jul/03/john-oliver-sinclair-broadcasting-rightwing-news-fox

Is John Oliver worried about the left wing bias that NBC, CBS, ABC brings to their local news affiliates?

John Oliver goes after all sorts of people and companies, but I will leave it to you to find your own bias:)
Mr Obama banning the 4th of july wasnt bias was it.
I do have a bias, BUT I take note of RW news because they have NEVER been trustworthy let alone unbias.

My bias is liberal, Because I was born and grew up in the UK, And the UK is liberal to you
I live in Canada, Im biased because Canada is more liberal to you.
I read at least 20 sites a day, and a lot of RW sites, from the US.
SO why dont YOU ask Mr Oliver instead of trying to prove you're not just an idiot to me
btw Did you actually watch it?

Well, thing is, actual news gathering/investigation takes more than conviction and integrity and talent -- it takes money.

Bullshit, of course it is, it is just not as naked as with other outlets. But like an ass under the baggiest of pants, it is still there.

I did watch it...and as usual, John Oliver acts as if he's a serious reporter rather than a commentator. But the truth is, he IS a commentator whose main concern seems to be the fact that stations will have a right-wing bias. Given the number of stations...owned by or affiliated with ABC, CBS, NBC, with their left-wing bias...I don't see the need for concern.

But then, my bias is to the right as yours is to the left. What I see is the same as you but from a right-leaning perspective. I've never seen mainstream media not have a liberal agenda and while they sometimes get things right as does media further to the right and to the left, for the most part there is very little trust yo be had in any of them.

Mwaaahhhh wicked -mwaaah whats he talking about as I have no brain and no -one to blither shit with on that other place: because it became the embodiment of your concentrate of woebegone detrious and your ilk, didnt it.

Boscox is learning

Anyway as I say occasionally I use:
1. BBC
2. Wiki
Someone like me would describe them as centralist - your Washington post and newyork times isnt bad. I think I get one PBS channel across here but I think its the docu one.

I have grown more familiar the last couple of years with the American media and the one called FOX-shit scares me the most.

America is missing the left to centre

But for a drunk lying in the gutter (thats the one next to idiot crack whores like you) perhaps you could explain to me which has the highest ratings
1. the Big bang Theory or FOX-shit
2. Fox-shit or that documentary on oh fuk it anything at all.

Actually I have not checked it out for the best part of a week brb
