Don't blame the local and state police for everything.

There will never be a shortfall of federal funds if the locals and states LE can promise to be as forceful and chickenshit and clueless as can possibly be, and hire accordingly, that is, as per federal guidelines.

Contracted private prisons are hungry prisons.

Let's get a move on, here.

I can't express how much I deplore the contracted private, for profit, prisons.
America has some wonderful examples in other countries of how we could modify our systems and stop selling out our citizens for profit.

I think we could implement what works, take a page that fits, leave the rest and especially stop screwing up the lives of our youth by making the only profitable business drug dealing, and making it profitable for the law enforcement to seize not just the drugs and money but property and then processing them in and out of a system that profits from enslaving people in barbaric conditions that I wouldn't allow an animal to endure. That system is an endless self-fulfilling FUBAR mess.

It has been proven time and again that many firearms are obtained 'outside' of the normal precurement proceedure.
The Panorama program managed to buy several guns without going into a gun dealership.
They also managed to get several more guns from gun shows.
And they did that within minutes, not days or weeks or months and complete with lots of ammo and no checks.

Bearing in mind that the presenter/investigator is not even a US citizen, it just proves that your laws are not enforced rigourously enough.

Regardless of that, any law is designed to deter people, it will never completely stop anything.
To state that a law is ineffective because it isn't 100% fool-proof and water-tight is ignorant and disingenuous at best and and a total strawman argument and foolish at worst.
What's even worse is the stupid small-minded trial areas that are guaranteed to fail and you always hold them up as examples of failure.
They will fail by design and implementation.
For anything to properly stand any chance of marginal success, it has to be nationwide and rigourously enforced; something the US seem unable to do.

Again you don't do your research.
Sessions is driving to enforce our gun laws.
Prosecute straw sales.
Prosecute illigal possesion etc.
You , as always refuse to adress the faxt that looser gun laws in VA can't be the cause of crime in DC , or there wqould be the same level of crime in VA.
DC has the drug fueled gangs that VA doesn't have, that is the problem if you aren't a gunaphobe.

The Chief of police in Chicago has stated that the crime problem in Chicago is caused (not by private gun ownership) by just under 1500 hard core gangbangers. Why go after honest peoples guns rather than those ganbangers. By taking away the rights of two million people they don't even slow down the 1500 gangbangerss but they can pretend they are doing something about crime, it is the same in the other 4 counties that are home to 2/3 of the murders in this country.

Pass a law that goes after the criminals and I am all for it but the anti gun crowd seems to believe in trickle down crime fighting, stuck it to the honest gun owner and in 10 or 20 years it will have an effect on crime. And if it doesn't at least we got the guns.
