They don't carry any fixed wing aircraft, only helicopters. Yeah, I know, helicopters are "aircraft," but a helicopter ship isn't what comes to mind when people think of an aircraft carrier. K.

Anyway. Not like the US alone couldn't take N. Korea and needs Japan and Australia to present a large enough deterrent. Nor like N. Korea couldn't do some serious damage if it chose. It's about who's crazy enough to go there.
