Don't get me wrong, it seems a horrible way to die, and probably survive a moderate exposure, but so can be conventional weapons.

It may just be me, but I'd rather have a bullet to the noodle and end it quickly than what NBC weapons can do.

I don't see why the use of these should change the strategic goals, especially since it's already well known he's used them before.

Indeed! If only one of the world powers had sent him some indication that the use of chemical weapons (a war crime, by the way) would not be tolerated. You know ... if some world leader had drawn a red line in the sand and then, enacted some form of retribution, when that line was crossed.

I still think if he's not in power, ISIS, or some other organization like them will be.

That is a legitimate concern. However, the truth is Assad is doing very little fighting against ISIS as opposed to fighting against the forces opposing him (which is why these civilians were targeted in this latest attack).

That said, I oppose the US implementing regime change of its own volition. So, my plan would be:

1) Inform Assad that we're sending troops to kick the shit out of ISIS and we'll be there until Raqqa is secure.
2) Train Syrians in military weapons and tactics/strategy.

One of the biggest problems is Assad can't get Syrians to fight for him, anymore so, he is employing Iranian, Iraqi, and Afghani mercenaries. Obviously, this force of mercs has also been infiltrated (in some strength level) by ISIS fighters/sympathizers. So, that doesn't bode well for (our) long-term strategy of destroying the Caliphate AND helping the Syrians oust their scumbag leader.

This is better than what they are getting under Assad, who has effectively outlawed all political opposition, and tightly controls the courts and the press. Oh and we all know what he thinks about human rights.

The Western idea of Human rights will never be Right for a Muslim country. Islam is a regimental religion run in a dictatorial way. They need the dictatorship.

But For using Chemical Weapons has rendered Assad an unfit leader and someone who is not making right decisions. What leader who gives a shit about his own country would unleash dangerous chemicals on his own soil!

But I will always be against the removal of Gaddafi for Libya.

He was doing good things for his country. And his people were living better lives, despite shutting down or killing all his political opposition.

Libya had the top standard of living in Africa under his rule. And now bringing him down has made Libya as bad as Syria now.

That WAS a bad decision removing him. Could have at least given his eldest son a chance to rule.

Well if he could have gotten rid of the chickenshit cowardly nutsuckers, he would have went in. But yeah, Il Douchovitch pillowtalking with Putin and Assad and blowing a hole in the middle of nowhere, by god there is a fucking warboy without a sack for the nutsuckers to feel like pounding their pud about.

Leftists here made the same argument when President Bush toppled Saddam, "Muslims are animals who need iron-fisted tyrants to control them"

Marxism is exactly like Islamism in that human rights aren't recognized as a real value under their system, how many times have we seen that play out

You may be right, Greta, but honestly that is not a decision for the West to make, although some people here believe Muslim nations should embrace human rights purely for the sake of human dignity. However, we have a difficult task promoting the ideals of humanism in our own nations. Muslim nations should have the right to maintain their beastly traditions as long as the West is not contaminated. But, there lies the rub.

As I said, these people will be happy IF they got a dictator like Gaddafi, who is able to improve their standard of living. Give access of education to women and give everybody a decent home and nobody goes hungry.

Democracy is not what they need now, democracy will continue to bring them chaos like what is happening in Libya now as they are Muslims. They can't get their act together! Their religion itself brings chaos and infighting among themselves, because their religion is a whole political system itself.

IF they could, Palestine wouldn't still be in such a mess. They need a strong leader who makes best decisions on their behalf and strictly enforce it. Maybe once everything got orderly and functioning like a normal country again, they could consider democracy, but that's after making sure all their citizens, male and female has access to education.

Like Libya had this great opportunity to reach democracy after everything was stable. That's what the eldest son of Gaddafi suggested. He was educated in the west and was more westernised than his father.

But seriously! I feel like Libya is US biggest fuck up. They seriously destroyed a country that was prospering and doing good. They backed the rebels and basically levelled the whole place.

So after they remove Assad, then what? Put a puppet leader like what they did at Iraq? Do they even have a successor worthy of taking over? And that is alot of poverty and mess and levelled buildings to clean up, whoever that successor is to unite the whole country again after all that infighting.

I hope they got a thorough plan.

As this war, you got Russia, China, Iran and North Korea backing Assad. And US, UK, AU backing the Rebels, and technically, I suppose the whole of EU should be with US on this one.

I feel like the ones who backed Assad are countries that favour dictatorship and believe it is effective.

And the thing is, Russia claim there is no proof that it was Assad government who launch the chemical attack. Russia claims Assad has no chemical weapons. Strangely. That's another big problem. US needs to show proof. But on the other hand, why would some third party Rebels do it too.
