Okay, basically. I am a damn big fan of Final Fantasy. But this whole being soooo afraid of painting a female as a damsel in distress is ruining my favourite game and the latest Final Fantasy 15.

Basically, these days, there is this tide where, they don't want to feature the fairy tale happy ending between a man and a woman. Cartoons nowadays, want to either show gay relationships, or have more emphasis on friendships, sibling love, parental and child love, than traditional Romantic Love between a male and a female!

This is what seriously sucks!

I have always LOVED Final Fantasy because of the traditional Romantic Love. And on top of that, what's really special is the Heroine is usually quite powerful too in her own right, not really a helpless female. But fair enough, usually the female is always captured to lure the male Hero or antagonize him. But the evil villain like my favourite Final Fantasy 8 is a woman anyway!

Thanks to all the crap, the whole focus is now just on Bromance and they killed his lady love early so that, all he has are his bros and they all died together in the end. Basically WTF is this bullshit that ALL the good guys die in the end and the baddie although dies too, but he wins anyway! Since his mission is just to kill all the good guys.

And the background decision on that, is because the initial story was princess, kidnapped, held hostage and abused. And of course, Hero saved the day. That's the original story line. Live happily ever after. Traditional story line.

So in order not to have a damsel in distress rescued. They made sure the HERO was unable to save her and she died. Fucking stupid Japanese men! Can't they fucking make her survive and save herself! And she could somehow be useful in helping the hero win! This is their idea of caving in to stop the whole damsel in distress crap.

What is this world coming to! Modern cartoon sucks. And yea Final Fantasy to me, has always been like a fantastic beautiful cartoon with fantastic graphic, that you can play in!

BTW, they seriously did change the original storyline due to social pressures of not having a female portrayed like a traditional damsel in distress situation where a man could save her. Fuck so they killed the damsel in distress, and make the man look like a failure in being unable to rescue her.

There's no traditional sexual roles in JRPGs anymore? Have they stopped doing Marios and Zeldas or something?

(You do know that they've been including a tragic death for the protagonist's honeypie in the occasional Final Fantasy since VII, right?)

Greta, the vast majority of Japanese authors cannot write stories to save their lives and their video game stories are fucking terrible. One of their most lauded video game auteurs - Hideo Kojima - is an atrocious writer with no understanding of characterisation, motivation or story structure.

Blame Anita Sarkeesian - she hates the damsel in distress trope and there are idiots out there that think appealing to female sensibilities is a good idea.

They are, of course, mistaken.

What is extremely different about this one, is, like most final fantasy got some sort of romance where the romantic couple interacts and fall inlove.

In this case.

They were pressured by social groups who hates women being portrayed as helpless victims or her only purpose is to be love interest for the hero. Which in this case it is not true since she is an oracle! And has god-like powers to heal people from their wounds. HUGE asset to the Hero I'd say.

So they cut out all the romantic scenes!!!

And basically, it's like Prince betroth to Princess who was captured by evil enemy.

The last time they met was when they were like 10 yr old, as kids. Apparently already in love then.

The next time they met, as adults when he finally finds her to rescue her. She gets stab to death, BEFORE they even get to talk to each other.

All the scenes in between got cut.

Because of social pressure.

It's ridiculous!

They are ruining my Final Fantasy!

Most young females who have time to play games like these that pretty much sucks up weeks of your time, would enjoy romance.

Traditional Romance Novels with damsel in distress is still selling very well ya know.

I have no time to play it anymore, so all I can do is watch Youtube and fast forward to watch other people play it for me. One thing great about modern technology.

Women play Facebook games. Their proportion of the actual gaming market is less than 10%.
