The Obama administration said 6.4 million people had signed up so far for health insurance for 2017 despite the program’s uncertain future.

The new sign-ups — an increase of 400,000 over a similar point last year — could undermine the argument that the law is in free fall.

Status: offline 		The media narrative around the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is badly misleading. If we were to believe that narrative, Obamacare is unpopular. This is true insofar as more people say they do not support it than support it. But, some people do not support it because it does not go far enough in providing a public option or universal health insurance coverage; more people support Obamacare or a more comprehensive system than oppose the law. More importantly, there is overwhelming support for Obamacare’s coverage expansions, even if people have a negative feeling towards the moniker.

I never thought less of the OP. I can stand a liberal, but supporting the piece of shit known as the ACA is really disgusting. It was another one of those "pass it so we know what's in it" pieces of garbage.

The insurance companies make more than they ever did, the price gouging medical industry makes more money then they ever did, and people pay more but got like ten fucking grand deductibles.

And this guy likes it. I bet our buddy Music here has a preexisting condition because nobody, and I mean nobody without a preexisting condition supports the ACA.

So all you kidney patients and diabetics, DO SOMETHING TO GET THE COST OF YOUR TREATMENT DOWN. Don't let them bleed the rest of us to death to keep you alive. You know they are raking us over the coals. You fucking know how much these people make. For dialysis they hook you up and you sit there for a few hours, and we are billed at like $100 an hour for that. They subsidise your insulin ? That shit is probably made in China at a buck a gallon, but what do they charge for it ? Probably the only liquid on this planet more expensive is inkjet printer inks.

You have attacked the problem in totally the wrong way. Get the fucking costs down. Hell, even in my lifetime I know people who paid their own hospital bills.

You ain't getting shit from me and I don't want shit from you. My organs fail, I die. Liver, kidneys, pancreas, if they do not work I die. Fuck your hospitals.

When it was not too late they were unable to help me and actually refused. Someone not long ago asked about me straightening out my life, I said WHY ? It's fucking over folks. I did all I could and it did not work. Now I only want to enjoy the rest of it.

YOU caused this. YOU didn't vote out people who said "we have to pass it to find out what's in it". If I really cared I would have shot that bitch who said that. YOU democrats so stuck on Hillary Clinton MADE TRUMP PRESIDENT. A fucking monkey could have beat him, you found the only organism on this planet he could beat. wierd that america was the only "civilised" country without covering pre existing conditions before the ACA and all the republican "repeals and plans failed, even tho pre existing conditions was part they wanted to keep, yet you want people to die.

The only significant producer of insulin outside of Europe is a few plants a Danish company own in India. It's one of the main imports European companies have into China, in fact, because the Chinese mostly can't be bothered manufacturing the stuff themselves as it's a lot easier and cheaper to import it. Don't let facts get in the way of your kneejerk prejudices, though.
(Insulin is fairly cheap, btw: the real expenses for diabetics is other stuff, in particular blood sugar testing equipment, which is exhorbitant in the 'States. A box of twenty test strips for a blood sugar monitor will cost you more than a bottle of vintage champagne, and you'll go through a couple of boxes a month if you're making a serious attempt to control your diabetes.)

Single payer would be far better than ACA. Everyone but the right knows this, which is why every developed country except this backwards one does it.

But it's the first step forward since Medicaid/Medicare. And was a growing problem, with double-digit inflation, for both the uninsured and businesses trying to buy insurance for them. The situation was unsustainable.

Now we have a flawed but better than it was situation that will work for now.

The GOP, on the other hand, has only interest in repeal and privatization.

By the way, I'm in excellent health, and well-insured. Thanks for caring.
