Well I suppose some abusive people use the lifestyle as an excuse to be abusive. I know that for me when I have someone tenderly giving me aftercare, and making sure I am ok, it could hardly be seen as hateful. I only know my own experience.. my Dom enjoys my reaction to the things he does to me, it is his "domspace". It wouldn't matter if it took tickling me, beating me, massaging me... whatever.. it is putting me into subspace that creates his domspace.. so although I am sure that some self haters and some haters do  WIITWD, I haven't experienced it.

It really is such a subjective thing...

If someone insults another person and the person doesn't see it (as in a backhanded compliment), then was it an insult? If a tree falls and no one hears it,, did it make a sound?

I would answer "yes" to both of those .

Thanks for answering the tree question, it always stumped me... Ha Ha

hi level,

no i dont notice a different ratio of haters here then in vanilla life.

when i have ever met a hater, and gotten a closer look i have found with out exception that they are afraid and insecure ...and when you look even closer, they just want to feel loved...and when you love them...everything melts.

Hi Maui wowie ,

I know what you mean, but there are some... the hate, or pain, whatever, is too deep, I'm not sure if it can be loved out of them. Not in one lifetime, anyway.

Surely you don't think one loves

I have come across all those from time to time. I avoid them like the plague. Easy to spot... men who hate women. They are never the caring dominant sort who think women are wonderful and particularly love submissive women. Instead their hatred of women is clear. Yuck.
I just ordered a new book tonight here in the UK "Misogyny - The World's Oldest prejudice" by Jack Holland, surprisingly written by a man.

Actually I see less of it in this community than in the vanilla world. The people who suffer from bigotry tend to fly it like a flag in communities like this, so they are easily spotted. JMHO

I've also discovered that most young men who are looking at women my age have HUGE issues with their mothers and, frankly, I'm not willing for them to beat their mother by beating me.

Mmmm, I dunno. I've got major issues with my mother. So much so that many of my friends, mostly female, wonder why I don't hate women. I've given that some thought too, and I've come to the conclusion that of the women I do have issues with, they're more likely to have issues of thier own that I just seem to bring out for some reason. I'm intelligent enough to understand that my mother is not a good statistical slice of the general population around me. I certainly do NOT consider a woman an outlet for my anger and frustration either. Quite the opposite, actually. I know a couple girls that would LOVE to have me unload on them (nothing like a desire to serve, hmm?), but if I did that, I don't think I'd be man I want to be any longer.

Nope, I'm firmly in the camp where I firmly want women where they belong and men where they belong. It's generally a happier place.

I've seen a lot of it at Clubs and private parties.
Again, some people confuse "meaness" with B&D M/s lifestyle.
I knew onePro Domme who had a real ugly divorce with her husband. And I mean she was ANGRY!
You'd see her at parties waling the crap out of any sub male who was nieve enough to be tied to a cross by her. And I mean she REALLY hit them! (Got a lot of clients like that) She was obviously taking out her aggressions on them! Man, that must have hurt!
I made more friends in those parties and Clubs just by being polite.
My friend sometimes would come up to me and say; "Tom, those people who you were talking to told me they thought you were nice and would like to get together sometime."
Just be nice to people.

While I have not seen as much Misanthropy in the scene(conpared to CM mayhaps)  Misogyny and Misandry are out and about ;I have seen some really scary people with deep seated resentment and anger for the other gender; one thing I notice with them is a high turn over of partners and that any questioning of their actions or demands leads to the rage filled cries of "Your not a  real Dom/Sub/Electric-Muppet!!!!"

How much, if at all, do you see of this in the kinky world?
I don't much mind the people who hate everybody equally, as long as he/she isn't a sociopath who thinks riding roughshod over someone else is acceptable.
As for mysogynists and Misandrists, I have observed a fair number of people on this site whom I felt were so inclined, but as we are all adults able to make our own judgements and choices, it's not my business to point that out to anyone else (unless he starts a thread about how much women suck for wanting him to pay for a date).    M

I think that since this lifestyle 'consents' to what the vanilla eye could consider 'abuse', that some misguided individuals end up involving themselves in this lifestyle, thinking it's acceptable to display their acts of hatred towards the opposite gender.

What I have observed more of here (in CM) .is female subs not liking female dominants, and female dominants not liking male dominants.  Would these be MisoFemDom, and MisaMaleDom?

I've found so many female subs and male doms I like, and who like me at collarme that I've sometimes wished I were Bi or sub.   M

I can't say I've seen any of the 'mis's' more in the lifestyle than in vanilla life.  I however have seen quite a bit of chauvinism - be it male or female.

I have encountered a lot of great male doms and female subs, and have gotten along well with most.... though becoming Bi or sub isn't likely gonna happen with me anytime soon.  lol

I have gotten some unfriendly mail from a couple of female submissives thinking it inappropriate for females to be dominant, and have seen the mention of similar on the forums.
