Because God doesn't actually care what we do, there is no punishment or reward, there is no afterlife, there is only the here and now.

WhoreMods -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 9:58:55 AM)

As far as the evil=/= God argument goes:
Ceiling cat wiped out the whole of the earth*'s population apart from Noah's family, had aliens nuke Sodom and Gommorah, and told Pilate to wash his hands while His only son was nailed to a tree.
Some murderers aspire to that sort of casual atrocity. Damn right they're God...

*(Actually, part of the middle east, but that was the whole world to the people who wrote the bible)

Numerans -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 2:04:55 PM)

I am NOT okay with viewing some of my more serious BDSM 'kinks' as most people do here.

So I think that some people need a strong hand and some people want to be that strong hand, etc, but to objectify it, to turn it into an object of fixation instead of as a tool for self-improvement is to turn something good into something evil.

So using BDSM to grow as a person or explore ones senses may be 'okay' with 'God' or 'The Source' or what ever universal sense of morality that may be. But to degenerate into a spiral of depravity is not. But I am a very small minority so don't mind me as long as you can accept that we are different and respect that.

mnottertail -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 2:13:07 PM)

Yes, I get blowjobs for the personal growth potential aspect myself.

What makes something wrong? Does God make it wrong or do you make it wrong?

I'm not particularly interested in discussions of the existence of God. I figure I'll find out the answer when I die. In the meantime, I only have my judgement to determine whether something is right or wrong.

All things come from God, "The Light", "The Source", "All that is" yet many feel that to express yourself is wrong? Why?
Christ Martyred himself as did other great figures throughout history and is this wrong?

Carol & I experimented with SM. I see no relationship to that and dying on a cross.

Better question ""are you okay with BDSM?"
Yup, totally. It isn't for me but I see nothing wrong with it. For me, good & evil come down to pretty simplistic terms. I am either harming or helping those around me.... in little and big ways. My experimentation with SM was intended to make a happier marriage for both of us... or at least explore an option for that. There was no intent to harm. There was no actual harm. It was two people in love experimenting with ways to express that.

If that is evil then sign me up on Satan's side. If God exists then it gave me a conscience. If that conscience lies to me that tells me everything I need to know about that god and I stand opposed to it.

Regardless that's not bdsm.

\\For me, good & evil come down to pretty simplistic terms

Good and Evil are very complicated terms. You can use the term harm or not harm as you do without invoking good or evil. So no need to simplify it.

mnottertail -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 2:48:08 PM)

good and evil is another way to say right and wrong as is harm and not harm. A distinction without a difference I think in many respects.

Consider only malum in se, and malum prohibitum, at some point you can complicate anything.

Numerans -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 2:51:05 PM)

no, Evil and Good are complicated terms that have been simplified by a society that does not want to think about their implications.

For example, and I do not want to sound like a smartass since I just recently learned this myself, Nietczhe considered harm and suffering and pain (not BDSM 'agreed upon' stuff neither) as 'Good'.

And Nietczhe was a smart bloke. So there's a start for you at least, Buddhism is an other angle too.
Now why this is? Well that would require more than a forum post but Im just saying.

That really depends on the context of it.

Nietzsche is Pietzsche, but a 'transcend and perish' kinda guy, and I cannot fathom a complexity in his statement nor his idea. Seems to be rather straightforward and unremarkable.

Termyn8or -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 9:18:09 PM)

Good and evil ?

Ringo. I can't get it up for sure now because of a PC problem but the guy who played Ben Cartwright on Bonanza sung it.

just a little ditty about a guy he found and pulled a bullet out of him. Turned out the guy, Ringo, was one of the fastest and sharpest shooter of all, and a criminal. After while he probably wished he had let him die.

OK I wikied it, his name is Lorne Green. The song is Ringo.

In the end of the song, Ringo had a chance to kill him but did not. And went out there to die with 50 guns pointed at him. Nobody is fast enough for that.

But saving Ringo probably resulted in many deaths of innocents. So it was wrong, or was it not ? What if you were in a room with Stalin or Hitler and there was someone in there got the drop on him and was about to kill him, if you stopped the killer would that be right or wrong ?

You have the floor.

Why would it be ?

There are so many inconsistencies in religion no wonder people are so fucking stupid or even crazy.

I have become what could be termed semi-Pharisic. While I do like to think that there is a part of you that is more than the sum of your parts, and that the energy in your brain is that which cannot be destroyed, all this talk of an afterlife is a bunch of shit.

You are NOT going to heaven to meet Grandma. When your body dies your family and thus your name is gone. Your gender is gone. Your race is gone. It is but a spark, a little piece of you that goes on and joins some sort of collective. While you may enjoy all knowledge, there is not much individuality. You are no longer John Doe or anyone else. It is just that little bit of you.

Nobody can be sure, but we can be sure of a few things. Your birth, who borne you, who Fathered you, your family name, your gender and even sexual preferences, that is all tied pretty much to your body. When your body is gone all that is gone. Even if you were homosexual, you were attracted to people of the same gender, but now there is no gender.

I have some belief of something like Gaia, but bigger. Not the world, but the universe as a being, and we are cells in that being. What conciousness it has is unknown. but the possibility actually makes me not fear death. Seriously, if someone stuck a gun to my head I would say "Well ? Does that thing work or not ? ".

I have been in self bondage scenarios that were ten times more dangerous than a crackhead with a gun. I still have most of the gear, wanna try it ? Use it and your life is in my hands period. And I tell you this, I am afraid to use it now. I was alot more adventurous back then, to say the least. If the house was on fire they would have to just leave me there and say "Sorry". that is how fucking serious my rig was.

But still, death would be alright. I do realize it is not for everyone right now, but eventually it will be.

tamaka -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 9:49:16 PM)

I suspect that everything we "know" to be reality is just a game we (the collective conscience) created because we were bored.

Termyn8or -> RE: God and BDSM (9/8/2016 10:04:11 PM)

There is a name for that condition.
