Master96 -> Gynarchy (7/22/2006 9:57:48 AM)

What is Gynarchy?
Is it somehow the opposite of Gorean Lifestyles?

Master96,

MissDiandSirHugh -> RE: Gynarchy (7/22/2006 10:08:54 AM)

We Googled it and found that it seems to mean that all males are enslaved and subjegated to Females and that they are then taught to behave in such ways as the Female wishes in all aspects at no time is there such a thing as a Sub or Slave Female as they are the Doms at all times.

EvilGeoff -> RE: Gynarchy (7/22/2006 10:12:53 AM)

As MissDi and SirHugh pointed out... Yes, gynarchy is pretty much the polar opposite of Gorean.

      Is it really that different?  I wasn't familiar with the term before this thread but it strikes me that aside from the role reversal, the two have very similar attitudes.  Perhaps more a mirror-image than an opposite.

EvilGeoff -> RE: Gynarchy (7/22/2006 10:43:17 AM)

I can see the mirror-image analogy too.  Kinda like the "Alternate Evil Universe" in Star Trek.  But I still like polar opposites though.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gynarchy is a form of government in which the rulers are women

Gor is a series of fictional books based on a maledom theory and Gynarchy is a reality based theory of femdom superiority. I personally don't think either sex has superiority over the other, they are both equal.

Gynarchy is also frequently associated with matriarchy.
But on a more accurate level, Matriarchy has to do with more of a social aspect. For example, elephants engage in a matriarchy because groups of elephants are usually lead by a female. It also defines the line of descent. In our society today, inheritance passes through the male line. That makes us a patriarchy. Howver, back in ancient Egypt for example, inheritance passed through the female line.

While gynarchy would be a strictly about government by women.

krys -> RE: Gynarchy (7/22/2006 2:32:08 PM)

Totally neurotic side note.  Matriarchal and Patriarchal have to do with a female or male leadership.  Tracing descent from one or the other sex is is matrilineal and patrilineal.  There is actually a socio-political difference between the two.  I am also overwhelmingly anal retentive sometimes.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Gynarchy (7/22/2006 3:48:59 PM)

I don't think that's anal retentive.  It's a pretty important distinction.  Matrilineal societies can be patriarchal (and often are).
