What is your reaction to folks praying around a tank that will be used for violence? Doesn't the other side do that as well? *Shrugs*

All opinions  and insight welcome!

Unfortunately nothing surprises me about the middle east, unless it is people showing a little restraint but restraint is blasphemy there.

I just read the first line of your link....*Sighs*
" Report: U.S. rushes precision-guided bombs to Israel [image]http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/images/0.gif[/image] By Reuters [image]http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/images/0.gif[/image] The Bush administration is rushing a delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel, which requested the expedited shipment last week after beginning its air campaign against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, The New York Times reported on Saturday."

FangsNfeet -> RE: I'm Stirring the Mideast Pot (7/22/2006 6:33:53 AM)

Most people give there prayers and best wishes to there loved ones that go to war. It's a common practice in most societies and cultures to be prayed upon and even blessed before you march into battle. Some soldiers have been known to even take communion.
Most pray for protection/victory but most importantly salvation should they fall.

While I agree, the irony of the image speaks volumes of how primitive people and their gods are.

I’m not anti-Jewish, I have much respect to all religions. But this is one is very ugly revenge…

If one Israeli childe killed, they want to kill ten Arabic children with the F-16.

Master96,

meatcleaver -> RE: I'm Stirring the Mideast Pot (7/22/2006 7:51:15 AM)

There are too many idiots calling for death on both sides. Each justifying the others equally offensive reaction.

I think Ghandi got it right when he said 'An eye for an eye makes everyone blind.'

MHOO314 -> RE: I'm Stirring the Mideast Pot (7/22/2006 7:57:24 AM)

As long as man has waged war, sides have worshipped prior to the start of battle---for victory, for salvation and for the end of the conflict. This is nothing new or different in the history of the world.

cr0ckdile -> RE: I'm Stirring the Mideast Pot (7/22/2006 8:37:03 AM)

Master96, I challenge you to find a creditable English news source for your claim of some supposed Rabbinic council calling for the killing of civilians.  I googled "council of rabbis kill civilians" and similar articles came up, but guess what! they were from Arabic newspapers (the shining example of a free press - Ha!) and rabidly anti-Israel sites, one of which was a neo-Nazi site.

But why should we be surprised?  Radical Islamists fake the news whenever it suits them.

I agree with darkinshadows.

My source is from http://www.alarabiya.net/ which is the official site of a highly respected TV channel in the Middle East.

(The site is in Arabic, and I provided a link to translate the content)

Master96,

I think it's pointless to pray before war as we all worship the SAME God we just have different names & teachings about God...
God Does not take sides in these conflicts...
In fact I think it Probably causes Much pain to God seeing what he's created destroyed!!!

I'm just going to say like I always do: I'd like to see this country totally absolve itself of the relationship it has with Israel and the Arab / Persian states. We have enough people and problems in this country that we do not need to involve ourselves in their conflicts. If they can't look each other in the eye, shake hands and come to some sort of compromise; I say fuck em', forgot em' and let them exterminate each other. I'm very serious... the way they solve problems… the planet would be much better off without both races.   It bugs the holy shit out of me knowing that we have Americans sweatn’ their asses off everyday, having money subtracted from their checks so it can fund a bunch jackasses killing each other out in the sand.

God is always on your side? Geesh what kinda God would it be if he wasn't... it is just annoying that the other side invokes him too, but we all know whose side God is really on.,. which is our side... unless we lose and then I guess he was on the other side.. perhaps we pissed God off or something and he will be on our side again...ouch, it makes my head hurt and it is just easier to send a hurricane to smite an enemy, like Pat Robertson does.,... we all know God does his bidding the most, those Israelis should be praying to him.. who knows, maybe they are[:D]

popeye1250 -> RE: I'm Stirring the Mideast Pot (7/22/2006 1:34:56 PM)

I keep wondering when we're going to get "Allies" who start giving US money!
We need to start getting out of treaties, and alliances that cost the U.S. Taxpayer money.
The Israelis and the Palistinians need to "make peace", not the U.S.
Or not, I really don't care. I just wish foreigners would stop trying to bring their fights and squabbles to the U.S. and expecting (US) to "do something" about them.
I don't believe in Imperialism by any country and not total isolationism either but the pendulum has swung *so far* in the imperialism direction in the last 40 years that we really do need to start engaging in more isolationistic policies.
These are "government policies" not policies of the American People! When do we get a say in this stuff? It seems that the big corporations have plenty of say in foreign policy, why not The American People for a change?
After all, the people in Washington are supposed to be running *our government* not a charity for foreign countries!
To paraphrase from the movie "Batman", "That town needs an enema!"

Just don't be asking God anything from September 10 through February 4, that's when the Dallas Cowboys will be playing their way to another Super Bowl. I mean, come on, we're gonna be praying for important stuff here.
