Propaganda is what's done when we only have one side of the story. This has been historically pro-Israel for us here in the States because Israel is an ally. I would imagine Arab countries have had a much different take on the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts, since they have no loyalty to Israel to skew their information towards them. Being able to look at the situation subjectively, for probably the first time ever, we can now see that both sides have been and continue to be horrible to each other. We cannot overlook atrocities committed by our allies anymore because they reflect upon us throughout the region, and ultimately, it will be up to us to resolve it all. Israel has expanded beyond its UN determined boarders. Probably illegally. I can't help to think what if Canada were attacking and taking over parts of Alaska on a regular basis? Would we demonize Alaskan citizens for fighting back, or for how they're fighting back, while the State is overrun?

JVoV there is no justifiable side... there is only history. One thing we have in our western society is a free press and this allows us to make informed judgments. I'll not deny our media is biased but the bias is formed by the reader or viewership. Otherwise our media gives the facts but also tells us these facts in a way they believe we what to hear them... if that makes sense to you. Many Arab or Muslim countries do not have a free press and cannot make the same informed judgments. They are often feed hate and fear by their state regulated media. So in a way we have no one to blame for our part in the middle east because we were and are informed. I believe many Arab and Muslims can be forgiven somewhat because they have not been informed with the truth to make moral and fair judgments. Butch

Butch, I value your insight about what's going on in Ferguson because you are there to see it. Even if I don't agree with your views on why it's happening, or on a feasible solution, I can't argue your facts. So how can I ignore the voices of Palestinians and Israelis that are speaking out against atrocities committed by both sides there? I believe that the UN needs to step in, and hopefully end the violence on both sides.

I don't think you should... I hope you did not get that idea from my post... I am just saying there is no just innocent side in this conflict...we can see this I'm not sure they can. I am afraid someone has to win... or an agreement between the two parties they can live with is the only solution. The UN could do nothing...first there is no guarantee they could force Israel to do anything and just keeping the sides separated will solve nothing... What may I ask would you have the UN do...and how will that solve the problems between them? Butch

No, I agree. The UN is fairly useless these days, not that it ever had any teeth. But until Israel stops poking their neighbors, I don't think we should continue defending them.

I agree with you but it is not practical unless support is also withheld from the Palestinians...and that will not happen sad but so. BUT I do think we should use the threat of withdrawing aid to stop some of Israel's provocative behaviors such as settlements in disputed territory and terrorists actions of certain Israeli ultra-conservatives.
