Kirata -> Promoting the Slave Trade (7/18/2015 11:12:54 AM)

Yes folks, they're at it again. This time in Britain. Here's the offensive flag...

[image]http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03373/black-country-flag_3373809b.jpg[/image]

Patrick Vernon claims the Black Country flag - which is red, white and black with a chain motif - unwittingly promotes the slave trade. His comments come on the eve of the Black Country Day, which takes place on Tuesday... The chains on the flag were intended to celebrate the iron workers who made chains for ships, including ones on the doomed Titanic. ~Source

The flag was designed in 2012 by schoolgirl Gracie Sheppard from Stourbridge. Her design was inspired by Elihu Burritt, the American consul to Birmingham who described the region as ‘black by day and red by night’. The white cone in the middle symbolises the Red House Glass Cone. ~Source

Odd how these "anti-racist" moonbats manage to see raaaacissm in almost anything.

Food for thought there.

idiocy on the move

Here is another flag....

[image]http://www.sportsintofaith.com/isfs/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Olympic-Flag.jpg[/image]

Your going to tell me that: "a bunch of liking circles equals the slave trade" ?

Then this too as to be about the slave trade:

Or this one....

What I'm getting at here, is neither your article nor you, make a reasonable argument that link your argument and the flag to the slave trade. It was designed in 2012...LONG AFTER....any slave trade in Britain. You would know that if you actually..READ THE FUCKING ARTICLE..and the date published.

Your just butt hurt that the confederate flag is being shown for what its all about: putting down Americans whom have just as much right to live and enjoy freedoms as anyone else!

Since when I think of the confederate flag, I think of the KKK. When I think of the KKK, I think of the confederate flag. I can google both 'KKK with confederate flag' and 'KKK with American flag'. Yet, images of the confederate flag with the KKK appear sixteen times more often than with the American flag. I'm not alone in this understanding of the symbolism of what the confederate flag represents and the KKK in America.

Your the idiot that started this thread. Your the idiot that tried to make something out of nothing. Your the idiot defending a position that is not realistically, ethically, nor morally defend able in an intellectual debate.

What you should have done, to save face and dignity, is to admit I made some good points and end things there. But your ego trumped your wisdom, resulting in the currently observed effects. This thread only gets worst for you, the longer you continue it. Of course, you'll disbelieve me (that's your nature). So you'll just have to learn the hard way...

If I was illiterate, explain how I know what your stating here?

Oh I'm sorry, are you still an idiot and getting beaten down for not getting a clue? I just gave you a 'get out of jail free' card, and you snubbed it. So you really dont have any excuses to hide behind....

I would say that you're right. But then again I won my two PhDs in a lottery.

PeonForHer -> RE: Promoting the Slave Trade (7/18/2015 1:22:59 PM)

I can't imagine why people were so up in arms about the Confederate flag, what with minor matters like it being related to mass slave-owning in America, a central issue in the Civil War, and having been designed by a self-confessed white supremacist, and mere millions being against it all of sudden ... when there are obviously much more crucial issues like this newly-invented flag here in GB and a widespread movement of one person who's against it. Cracking find, K!

JVoV -> RE: Promoting the Slave Trade (7/18/2015 1:41:47 PM)

I find the food pyramid antisemetic. It's a reminder that we were all slaves at one point.

He wasn't making something of nothing, he was ridiculing people who tried to.
You are right about one thing, the longer this thread goes, the worse it gets ........ for you.

And, BTW, your one statement that Conservatives and Libertarians were so stupid that they need to let the government do their thinking for them showed more hate than he has in the whole time he has been on here.

Actually, he was ridiculing just the one person, Bama. There's only one person involved, here. To be clear: this is a thread about the beliefs and feelings of one British person, not American, and a British person who holds no powerful political position, and of whom most people here in Britain have never heard, either.

It's worth getting these things in proportion. I mean, sometimes, I can just about see why lots of tedious rightie farts go off squawking like retarded chickens about 'political correctness gone **MAD**' ... but this is most definitely not one of them.

Ok, Kirata was still not the person making something out of nothing.
And he doesn't spout or defend hate.
The less people who take this seriously the better.

Actually, my post had nothing to do with the individual involved, and although he is mentioned in one of the excerpted quotes, I personally made no specific mention of him at all. I was observing, instead, that next to the KKK itself the most rabid racists in our midst today seem to be these self-styled "anti-racists". The clue to this, obscure though it may be, can be found in the line that reads:

Odd how these "anti-racist" moonbats manage to see raaaacissm in almost anything.

Arturas -> RE: Promoting the Slave Trade (7/18/2015 3:07:40 PM)

I think slavery seems to be a kink here on this site and others. Are some of you attacking that kink when relating slavery to the Confederate Battle Flag and then attacking it?
