Unregistered, un traceable ,un known ,automatic assault riffles are now a thing.....

These are real guns, that can be made full auto that shoot real bullets.

Every single part accept the receiver can legally be bought.

The receiver blanks, that are 80% finished and therefore don`t require a serial number, are legal to buy. And so are the milling machines.

What can go wrong?

From your first link:

Where does California law stand on this?
California and federal law allow these guns to be made. Homemade guns are nothing new but this kind of gunsmithing has traditionally required considerable expertise and expensive equipment.

California lawmakers recently tried to crack down on the manufacturer of these ghost guns, but Jerry Brown vetoed the law, saying requiring these homemade guns to have a serial number wouldn't likely reduce gun violence.

Is Gov. Jerry Brown (Democrat), who vetoed the law, on the "lunatic fringe," too?

The ability of any person (with $1200 +materials) to manufacture a gun isn't a good idea, imo. I prefer more stringent background checks than just money.

The only reason I can see for someone to shell out $1200 to make a $100 part is if they're afraid the government might outlaw the manufacture and sale of that part. As for the receivers being "untraceable," the company still has to keep sales records, and I'd rate it a good bet that a forensics lab could match the tooling on a piece to the machine that created it.

So what's new?

How many lower receivers can a CNC machine make?

Certainly your flair for equivocation hasn`t diminished......

Nice try at twisting things 'round.

You claimed this was from the lunatic fringe. CA legislature passed a law banning it. Gov. Brown vetoed that law. If you think vetoing a law intended to ban an action as not facilitating that action, you have to read more carefully, and attempt to gain comprehension.

So, since Gov. Brown DID NOT sign the bill to ban ghost guns, is he also part of the lunatic fringe?

Criminals and crazies don't buy guns through legal channels and they sure don't spend 1200 plus ot make a ghost gun. So why would "background checks" fix this and what exactly is the problem, that criminals would not have guns if we had more stringent background checks or that crazies will also be caught with these, why, crazies will not show up with anything bad on a background check and criminals know they will get caught so they buy illegally. So why does tis thread exist?

You do not have a clue, guns have been made in America at home for over 300 years only changes is now you can push a few buttons and upload a mill file to do it.Most of the ghost gun underground black market business comes from overseas. You can walk into almost any open market in Asia and buy a ghost gun if you know who is running the black market.Pakistan is one of the highest production arms manufactures of AK's in the area.In the Philippines it is a cottage industry.

You can go buy one and avoid all of licensing DEA and ATF crap.

Mexico has many cartel owned machine shops that manufacture full list of automatic weapons that eventually end up across the border with gangs like MS 13 among others. The Feds have known about this for decades. You can buy ammo from overseas as well most of it comes through Mexico.

How can you stop a person who works in a jungle or some other third world country hand making a weapon that is fully functional and looks almost as good as the real industrial version. They both kill

Governments/Criminals since the begging of man's jaunt on this rock, has loved banning weapons.Did not work out to well for the Jews in world war 2 now did it,or countless others who where disarmed by a governing body with the promise of we will protect you.

You can not legislate morality or honesty.

The day America abandons the 2nd. amendment is the day you turn 250 million plus folks into criminals and the rule of law becomes a moot point.

When that day comes and it will you will see chaos on a scale never seen. Their is not enough police, military to quell the anger that will rise from the people who are sick and damn tired of being told you have no right to protect yourself against harm whether it by a criminal or the very government that is trying to TURN THEM INTO SLAVES.

IF A MOB WILL AN AND HAS RIOTED FOR PLASMA TV'S AT CHRISTMAS, WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN WHEN THEIR IS NO FOOD OR ENERGY?

I love to shoot fully automatic weapons. Done so more times that I care to remember, however, for home use I see no use in one. I do agree that if they are totally banned, that the only ones with them will be crazies and criminals. In the mean time, I can use my other weapons that don't consume so much ammo to release some of my stress.

I don't care for full auto either. Not only are all your points about banning them further accurate but with the checks they do those who can have full auto are about the least likely people in the world to be misusing them.
I personally feel that full auto is a waste of ammo.

I prefer three round bursts to full auto. Full auto is only good for suppressing the fire of the people shooting at you.

Some "criminals and crazies" will be prevented from getting guns through legal channels. The definition of "crazy" would need to be closely guarded, though.

We have some on here and, sadly, some politicians who believe that if you want to own a gun that proves that you are crazy.

The concept and label of "ghost gun" is simply scare tactics applied to a fact that has been there all along. It is not hard to make a firearm.

If you make your own gun; there are no serial numbers registered with the ATF. If you do so legally, you get a license to make a firearm from the ATF. And you sill be expected to apply a serial number for tracking purposes to the firearm.

https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CCwQFjAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.atf.gov%2Ffile%2F61521%2Fdownload&ei=VTqQVZu6JMK6-AHs-rT4DQ&usg=AFQjCNHecf4Oe0t9io--C393sf7YSd9caA&sig2=bmYrADTt3vHGif2gfbZmFg&bvm=bv.96783405,d.cWw&cad=rja

This is just politics trying to make an issue out of a fact that has already been in place. Firearms are not hard to make given a few decent tools. And CNC machines have been around for over 20 years. It is just an issue since the cost of such a unit has come down within reach of a garage hobbyist.

If you don't want to use a computer controlled system; what you need is a small size lathe & milling machine.
