This looks like fun except... even kids can be photographed.... did they go too far?

Kinda creepy. Photographing in public. . . I am okay with that. I think that photographing someone in their home, curtains or no curtains is really creepy.

But I mean at its root, this allows peeping Toms. Does the jealous guarding of privacy in order to have your personal dignity mean that you have to kill your neighbors?

Even as a child growing up on a farm with no neigbors homes close, I would close the curtains at night.. Now some people might call that a tad paranoid (my mother saeemed to think so) but doing that made me feel better.. I have been a "privacy nut" ever since.. I dislike being photographed walking down the street or out in public but people can legally do that so nothing i can do about it.. I remember a friend years ago lived across the street from a couple that would have sex in their bedroom on the second floor.. they left their curtains open and apparently a small crowd would gather on the street watching them having sex via a large bedroom mirror that could clearly show everything.. I guess they werent aware of this bad mirror placement.. or maybe they were..

I was living in a ground-floor apartment once that had blinds on the windows.. I would close the blinds at night but in summer i would slide the window open.. One night i was in the bedroom to the side of the window and i saw a couple of fingers slide between the slats in the blind and a sleazy dude trying to peer in.. I quietly walked over to the blind and slammed my fist as hard as i could thru the blind hitting him in the face.. I dont know who he was but i suspect a certain guy in my building that i had to complain to the manager about.. Even with your friggin' blinds closed you need to be careful at times..

I would bet that those people in the pics have curtains on their windows now tho..

I hate the feeling of being closed in... I always have windows open...even in the winter. If decent I have shades and drapes open as well. I could not care less if anyone took a picture... But i would if they took pictures of my kids ...then made a profit off of them.

I run around in very little.. t-shirt (no bra) and either shorts or panties..

I think its a strange thing for an art exhibit.. I would not pay for one of his photos.. I can understand parents being concerned for their kids tho.. but I guess one must assume they/theri family can be viewed, even in their home and take appropriate measures in today's voyeuristic world.. and that also means knowing about computers, hacking and preventing being secretly watched and/or listened to via webcam.. or from your cell, etc..

Very violating.

But...compelling. I admit it - I love those pictures. I would never support that kind of work. Ick. But still, I find the pictures very moving.

No worries there

Just like everyone else, I have total control over that through the power of curtains

I'm a bit divided on this one. As usual.

When I first read the thread, secretly photographing one's neighbors did indeed sound creepy. But two things struck me when I actually looked at the photos: (a) They hold their own with much of the other art photography I've seen, and (b) almost no one is identifiable. Indeed most of them are more photos of windows than of people.

Now I find myself wondering: If someone had painted the same scenes, would it seem creepy?

Ive known bank executives who keep telescopes in their high rise offices for "bird watching"... (wink wink)

If people arent aware that there are long range observation devices literally everywhere, they need to figure it out

Maybe keep a shotgun handy

This could be my girly-ness coming out. . . but my first thought on reading the article was, "That seems stalker-ish."

Or perhaps I have seen one too many tv shows/movies with the little shrine set up by the crazy f*ck.

I would not like some unknown person taking pictures through my windows.

Irony... we are on a site where consent is key and no one has an issue with the non-consensual nature of this.

There is also the consensual nonconsent angle

Exhibitionists doing what they love to do
