I don't think that's what he said. Come on -- it was a dumb question to ask an atheist. That Byrne's face showed such complete disbelief and horror tells it all--simply because someone didn't fit his own preconceived notions. The response was measured and fair. He only took it further when Byrne pushed him to. And he got what he (unintentionally and stupidly) asked for. Nicely too. And without condemning believers explicitly.
