Nobody has ever outed me but I think some of my family know. We were at a dinner for someone's birthday awhile back. It was a large party. Someone across the table said something and as I was in another conversation I was not really listening but somehting they said struck me and I thought they said "leather sheets". So, I turned around and said "You have leather sheets?" my mother in law turned to me and laughed saying "no, that's something YOU would like". So, while we don't openly discuss it, there have probably been the odd item in our home that may have been noticed or a website on the computer that was observed. Nobody has overtly said anything but I think they know. They obviously don't care. I feel for people who have families who will not accept them or look down on them for their preferences. I would consider it a betrayal for anyone to out me to anyone, for any reason, without my permission regardless if the outcome is positive or negative. It's my business, nobody elses and if I want someone to know, I'll tell them. I agree with everyone who stated just let it go unless you are asked. If you are, you probably know your family well enough to know how they will react. You can down play it or be brutally honest or something in the middle. Up to you :)
