" So my question is, in discussion here on such forums, has anyone stopped themselves or changed their mind about what they were about to do or maybe have done, because of the thoughts and views and opinions posted by others? "

Most definately! Kinda thought I had things pretty much figured out as to what I needed and also where I might fit in? This was also what I figured was after very much thought and very little experience? Newbie here and have learned alot more about myself/others after reading posts from the more experienced  in here. Doing a re-assesment right now to update my profile and will get that done asap when things come together more clearly.....think I may be getting closer?(lol).....

It is strange that I find that I’m now also thinking differently about certain things, that before I may have never question myself on. Having a light bulb moment from some of the members here.  I also see a lot of elder members in older threads, and it appears some who have opinions that far differ from the stance they have currently.

So my question is, in discussion here on such forums, has anyone stopped themselves or changed their mind about what they were about to do or maybe have done, because of the thoughts and views and opinions posted by others?  Ok I am prepared to get a lot of yeah I now use my block function now, but maybe by approaching an idea with a little more clarity thanks to the openness of these forums?

In the time I've been here on the CMMB I've come to have a deep respect for a number of people.  Reading the thoughts and ideas of people that I respect, I have at times paused and re-evaluated My thoughts and ideas on the same subjects.  Sometimes I have maintained My original position, sometimes I have altered that opinion.  Regardless of whether or not My opinion changed, My personal outlook did change because I saw something from another persons perspective and learned something from it.

I've never altered My words or thoughts when responding to or starting a thread based on how it would be received by another.  I've certainly been flamed once or more on the boards, if My skin isn't thick enough to read disagreement or even a few insults in text then I have no business being on a message board.

I can't say that I am specifically aware of any changes of thoughts or opinions at this given moment.  I do know that my opinions do become more evolved and deeper in thought and consideration over the course of time.  On occassions, I suppose that my opinion has changed from what once was... and thank god for that!  I change and  I grow.... like a weed that grows you don't notice it until suddenly it's their in front of you.... then go and get the weed killer!!!  But, seriously, I have evolved in alot ways that have been triggered from comments on the boards here and many other situations as well.  My motto is "Be a Better Me!"  If I ever feel that I am not evolving and growing... well I just hope someone takes me out behind the barn and shoots me!

I find that I am always growing and progressing. This is often reflected in the way that I respond to and perceive situations. This may mean that my opinions on certain things may change, as my information level and experiences change. I feel that this is an important aspect of moving forward in the world towards fulfillment of my purpose here.

I think that the information I've learned here has helped me to formulate more reasonable opinions on certain subjects. It also means that I don't post as often, since I find that, in many cases, one more voice is one too many on subjects (or people) beaten to death. Only when I am hormonal do I tend to become rabid about voicing my opinion with less regard for softening the sharpness of my tongue.

Yet, I find that if I’m looking for something specific that hasn’t been brought up in the last few days of “discussion,” I use the “search message” function and find more than enough reading material for 3 days

Wow someone who actually uses the search feature, i applaud you.

I have tried new things because of posts i've read, toothpaste and ginger come to mind. I also quit using BenGay as a butt plug lube because i read in a thread here that that can be dangerous. I no longer use my tens unit across my chest because of the dangers mentioned here. For me the health and safety section has been the most useful.  Most of the other sections i enjoy for the freindships and entertainment, but occasionally something useful is discussed. I remember a thread on household items that was very creative and saved us some money on toys.

I can honestly say that had it not been for IronBear, I would have never researched or considered Gor as much as I have been doing.

A couple of the members here have me stop and think about things, sometimes things I plan on doing, or having done, or simply stop and think on things period.

No matter how diverse the opinions here are expressed, I don’t think anyone’s words really fall on deaf ears.. Speaking from a loyal lurker pov, I think everyone here is making a difference at somepoint to someone somewhere...

Thank you so much for your replies!
