MrRodgers -> House comes around on med. marijuana (6/5/2014 10:53:45 PM)

With the addition of 29 house repubs, the HOR voted 219-189 to cut off the DEA from pot raids in states that have approved its use for medicinal and recreational use. Some declared this a state's rights issue. I think they are finally seeing the light.

Here

It is inevitable given the cultural mindset here coupled with the use of the internet as an empowerment tool. Add recent studies to the mix (for example the ones constantly touted on NORML's website) and it becomes hard to not see the light.

Most Republicans, including my rep, voted no. In other words, they sided with the Obama administration against sick people and states' rights. Blind partisanship ain't what it used to be.

I think most issues are states' rights issues. I wish more in the federal government saw things that way.

Screen captures still RULE! Ya feel me?

Republicans appeal to state's rights when it suits their ideology, and trash those rights when it doesn't.

As Democrats claim all sorts of values under Republican administrations, which they then drop the moment they get the White House. It's been going on for decades.

Where have you been?

And it was 49 Republicans, not 29, Rodgers.

Finally, now maybe those resources can be used to fight violent crime.

TheHeretic -> RE: House comes around on med. marijuana (6/7/2014 1:01:28 PM)

By cutting into the profits of the gangs, this attacks one major source of violent crime automatically - less money to buy guns and ammo for the street hoodlums.

You know, the first time I read this thread title, I glanced at it quickly and saw "Horse comes around on med. marijuana"

Now that would have been a very different thread.

In the WaPo they had that 29 changed their vote and according to the link it was 21.

I think most issues are personal rights issues -- I wish all levels of government saw things that way.

Wow, the party of " we stay out of your personal business" finally decides to let doctors make decisions concerning what drugs to administer, [8|]

Now, if those who oppose 'Obamacare' (Govt issued coverage) will get the fuck out of the abortion business..............

That seems incredibly unlikely.

Except that it is not govt. issued coverage say as in the FDIC our single payer govt. run insurance for banks or FCIP our single payer govt. run insurance for crops. Those are 'free market' [sic] entitlements or a form of socialism for the rich. Very similar to TARP except that wasn't a govt. corporation, just a one-time handout.

The Obama medical insurance mandate for 80% of the insured is more like capitalism for the poor. Obamacare is merely a mandate that people buy their won medical insurance.
