I suggest that you try different venues and types of parties.
A bar scene is more about meeting and mingling than actual
playing in most instances.  Check out the local Kink community
munches and try their private parties instead if you wish more
action and one-on-one attention.

Be well,

Even though it was in a bar, there were spanking benches, a rack, and the like. Just no one was using them.

As has been said try other venues.  The kinky world is just like the nilla world one size does not fit all.  i have also found even at the same venue some nights are better than others, it depends on the crowd etc.  Over all just dont give up on your quest it is worth the journey.

"Fetish" events, depending on the venue and the attendees, can range from nothing more than loud music and expensive drinks at a location where S&M means "Stand & Model" with lots of folks coming out in their Sunday-go-to-beating best fetish costumes (in otherwords, it looks like Goth night meets The Village People, with a few latex nuns, priests, and nurses thrown in the mix), to fully-equipped dungeon play parties.

Something to keep in mind...  In _most_ (but not all) jusrisdictions, places that have licenses to serve alcoholic beverages with on-premise consumption can not allow full nudity, sexual activity, and cannot have real SM scenes going on. Activities of that nature can (and has) gotten their alcohol license revoked.  As a general rule, if the place serves liquor, there won't be any play going on.

Personally, I rather like fully equipped dungeons with play going on.  I can always get a beer back at the motel room or at home!  *grin*

YIK,

Geoff has an excellent point. Events that are labelled fetish nights are often just dress-up events catering to a wide range of people, and many of them will be completely blank if you meantion BDSM. They can be fun, unless you are expecting more than just a bar night with scantilly-clad patrons.

Events labelled dungeon parties or play parties are usually the ones where you will see BDSM play happening.

You may want to research the events in your area to see if you can find one that is more what you are looking for.

Be aware though, that play parties are not generally free-for-alls, and you shouldn't get your hopes up about playing if you go alone. Attending munches, and making contacts first, really improves your chances of spontaneous offers of play, in my experience.

Yes, many of the fetish night events are throwing them in, but since they don't tend to attract the serious play party types, they go unused. At least that's what happened here. The non-play event organizers were hoping to bring in the heavy BDSM crowd, so they began offering these little dungeon spaces.

I imagine there's not much incentive for the non-BDSM crowd to mess up their outfits and risk looking silly. LOL

haha. I remember the good old days, when floggers only costed a nickel, and they were made with shards of glass at the tips ;) LOL!

whats's a glass of tetley's like anyways?

True, back in the good old days, floggers cost only a nickel, but trudging five miles through the snow to get a flogging was kind of a drag.
