Something to keep in mind... In _most_ (but not all) jusrisdictions, places that have licenses to serve alcoholic beverages with on-premise consumption can not allow full nudity, sexual activity, and cannot have real SM scenes going on. Activities of that nature can (and has) gotten their alcohol license revoked. As a general rule, if the place serves liquor, there won't be any play going on.
Personally, I rather like fully equipped dungeons with play going on. I can always get a beer back at the motel room or at home! *grin*

Geoff has an excellent point. Events that are labelled fetish nights are often just dress-up events catering to a wide range of people, and many of them will be completely blank if you meantion BDSM. They can be fun, unless you are expecting more than just a bar night with scantilly-clad patrons.
Events labelled dungeon parties or play parties are usually the ones where you will see BDSM play happening.
You may want to research the events in your area to see if you can find one that is more what you are looking for.
Be aware though, that play parties are not generally free-for-alls, and you shouldn't get your hopes up about playing if you go alone. Attending munches, and making contacts first, really improves your chances of spontaneous offers of play, in my experience.
