I went to a fetish party the other night, it was a bust, for me at least. I mean there was lots of eye candy, but, nobody was really doing anything. I ended up playing bodyguard for two women who thought it was a gay bar. They just thought it would be a good place to dance without getting hit on. I laughed when I asked them what their fetish was, and they were dumbfounded! I ended up talking to them and a guy dressed as a priest all night. When they left, I was sort of on my own, so I left, also. Maybe the thing got started after I left, cuz' it sure wasn't happening when I was there! I saw really scantily clad women (yum) and guys (not my thing, but o.k.) I saw lots of men dressed as women, and one man dressed as a baby (not my fetish) To each there own, but this guy was rather desperate. He went around to everyone trying to get spanked; not really getting it, though. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have gotten, or given, a spanking, but I'm not inclined to beg for it from just anyone.
I think I learned, that if you didn't come with anyone, your chances were about nil! Oh well, I'll go again. I'm stupid that way!!!

Give it another try and see what happens. Your a nice lookin fella and shouldn't have any trouble hookin up with someone.

OH has a pretty large BDSM scene from what I hear so try to be patient.

For a minute there, that was I thought you were talking about the party I was at, and of courset for the fact that it was a pretty upbeat play party.

There was the one guy dress as a priest and the one guy walking around in a diaper. Oh and there theres that whole distance thing between FL and OH.

Sorry to hear that the event you attended was a bust, keep trying, the next one you attend might be better these things are usually hit or miss sometimes.

Fetish is just an image nowadays.

Like back in the day when goth culture became all about hardcore music and black eyeliner.
Its just a trend, as proven by your little escapade at the party.

Welcome to the end of somethig that used to be worth it.

I don't remember a Priest but there certainly was a male adult baby at the one we attended. We are on the other coast from you but were in your area for the party. Chances are if it was not the same party it might have been the same baby, lol.

Hi K,

My eyes aren't that great, The person's costume looked priest like to me, maybe it was something other than a priest uniform, but looked to be such to my cocked eyes. LOL. Did you have fun? I spent most of my time over by the stage, ya couldn't miss me if you were there during the same time I was there, considering, I was probably one of maybe two AA females there. I left around 1:30 am. Btw, it was the party at Chambers.

Well Ms Rosa,

My little one and I were at Sir Steffan's. Can't comment on whether yours was a priest or not but depending on the nights it could definately have been the same baby. They are not that common a sight.

I attended this past Sat. I had a very nice time and the fact that I met some great people made it all worth the time. I'm looking forward to attending again in the future.

I went to a play party last night...Went by myself and had four seperate scenes with a total of 4 Dom/mes. Three of them I have never played with before.

Welcome to the end of people feeling that the world exists in spite of them, not because of them. I'd ask where the attitude (that the world somehow exists to provide just an ab fab experience for those who put nothing in, and expect to take everything out) came from, but I know.

The only positive thing that can be said about the attitude is that it cannot be sustained because those who can change their situation and are unwilling to settle for the crap their attitude created in the first place will become active and change things for themselves. Those who cannot, will spend the remainder of their lives talking about how things used to be great in the old days, but how they suck so bad now.

The ones that make the change that will come because it is organic, and can't be stopped, will do so on a "pay as you go" model, because they will have learned that the only thing you get from offering a free ride, is people who don't mind destroying your vehicle piled on ten deep.
(In fact, I think I'll use that as my new metaphor as my view of all the swingers flocking to the scene in search of fresh meat)

"Fetish" events, depending on the venue and the attendees, can range from nothing more than loud music and expensive drinks at a location where S&M means "Stand & Model" with lots of folks coming out in their Sunday-go-to-beating best fetish costumes (in otherwords, it looks like Goth night meets The Village People, with a few latex nuns, priests, and nurses thrown in the mix), to fully-equipped dungeon play parties.

Something to keep in mind... In _most_ (but not all) jusrisdictions, places that have licenses to serve alcoholic beverages with on-premise consumption can not allow full nudity, sexual activity, and cannot have real SM scenes going on. Activities of that nature can (and has) gotten their alcohol license revoked. As a general rule, if the place serves liquor, there won't be any play going on.

Personally, I rather like fully equipped dungeons with play going on. I can always get a beer back at the motel room or at home! *grin*

Fetish partys in bars tend be in my experiance both here and in the U.S playparty-lite. Events organised by local bdsm groups at dungons or private homes tend to be more fun...if only as you can contact the DMs and enquire about casual* play partners .
My big piece of advice; its always best to take a date; if only to have someone to chat with :)

*By casual I mean those wonderful people who are willing to give their time to help people get a taste of a flogging...or try some rope work

The term "fetish party" does not necessarily equate to "play party."

In my neck of the woods (S. Ontario) there is a wide spectrum of parties, from near 100% stand-and-model (mmmm....lovely eye candy...love it...even if it does make me feel like an old pervert...oh wait...i am an old pervert!) to all play, fet wear not required.

I agree that going to a play party unaccompanied is going to make it harder to play. Many people, tops and bottoms, are reluctant to play with those they don't know. I was at a party in western Canada that offered, though did not require, various coloured stickers to denote whether the wearer was looking to play. Didn't try one myself, so I can't say how well it works, but it seemed like a good concept.

Don't know about your area, but Fetish parties in SoCal are not play parties. The focus is on fetishes, not D/s BDSM.
