russia has never been so isolated in 20 years and much more then after Georgia.


Without steady,persuasive leadership,we never would have created such a strong coalition against the soviets or the ability to make the sanctions hurt.



"THE HAGUE—The leaders of the world's largest advanced economies moved Monday to isolate Russia, severing a key link between Moscow and the Western world after nearly two decades.

The leaders of the Group of Seven, or G-7, nations effectively disbanded the larger G-8 by excluding Russia until it changes course in Ukraine. They also agreed to exert punitive sanctions on Russia's energy, banking, finance and arms industries unless Moscow begins to dial back plans to absorb the region of Crimea.

But the G-7 leaders, who met in emergency session, didn't specify how far they would go to isolate President Vladimir Putin and hammer Russia's economy. While chastising Moscow in a joint statement, they also left the door open for Russia to one day return to its chair in the G-8. They also offered praise for Mr. Putin's decision to partially endorse an international observer mission to Ukraine."

Strange times for sure but when a party get`s 4400 citizens killed through fraud or leaks classified intel during a time of war,the only place to go is pootie licking.....

how much pressure can the oligarchs and the markets put on Putin? He is clearly of the mind that Russia should be a super power again, and I get the feeling he doesn't care about the average Joe/Vlad so we just have to hope that it will end here

Status: offline 		To add to Pixies point, the Ogliarchs got rich mainly through Putin, he still has the power to destroy many of them. There have been a few dubious murders of Russians in the UK in recent times, many highly critical of the regime.

Status: offline 		The G8 (G7) really does not accomplish much anyways. It's just a bullshit meeting for leaders to get together and bullshit together. It's nothing all that substantial to begin with. It's more of Publicity Stunt put on to make us all feel, that they all are really sitting there working hard. While the people which are really working hard on things don't get the spot light nor this sort of twisted "Rock Star" fame. The world Leaders to busy Multitasking and dealing with a wide variety of issues..Domestic and Foreign. I could go on about the lack of Merits involved with the G8. It's more of a PR stunt put on by the world leaders to give everybody else warm and fuzzy feelings.

This is terrible for the wealthy citizens of Russia, but as I stated before Putin is unfamiliar to failure. So will it stop here? I doubt this greatly but for the sake of both Russia and Ukraine I hope Putin has limits even in and of himself.

Not quite......Much of it is long term investment, so short term santions wont matter overly much. Currently they are investing millions into the UK and US housing markets, among other things. Much of the cash used for this is probably from ill-gotten gains. Where ever the cash comes from, it is fuelling the housing market as well as the local economy. Sanctions also hurt future investments. Chinas reaction could be crucial, as they currently buy energy from Russia, if these ties deepend Russian energy exports to the EU and US will be hit long term.

True and they won`t starve either...but.


They have put a great deal of their money and energy building investments,businesses(like American professional basketball teams,properties.etc,) and bank accounts in EU and American territories.


All that is gone...frozen,lost.........until they capitulate.


If you`ve noticed,the sanctions 1st hit not the country but a group of individuals.


pootie is insulated but they are not.

pootie-pride is what`s driving the pootie-panty-wetting but his friends don`t have any face to lose in this,only money.....lots and lots of money.

No doubt pootie is assuring them they be restored but they are adults and won`t be able to deal with such a loss easily,or enjoy London,NYC,Spain,Greece or Paris. Borscht gets boring quickly.....and they can have Cuba

"Cons" are the ones pushing for the obama administration to halt the export of military training equipment to Russia.
"Cons" are cosponsoring the legislation for stiffer sanctions, which the Obama administration originally opposed as "unhelpful" and which they are now moving to impliment.
