I'd like to go alot farther than that. When I was younger I wanted to buy a whole neighborhood and have the residents control who could rent or buy there, with me in charge of course. This would not be based on race, but personal preference. I like heavy metal and rock, and some hillbilly. Rappers would be unwelcome just as those who want to listen to Lawrence Welk. Their kids would be evaluated. No hellions. Of course this did not happen, but at one time it was a real possibility. Thing is it has become so friggin difficult to buy a house in this neigborhood it's not funny. I know that it did happen across the main road. There is a street with a cul de sac on which one person owns 90% of the houses. Nice area, very nice. You never see a house for rent or sale there. Personally, if say I owned an apartment building, the credit and background check would be so intense that I could indeed pick and choose tenents. Make them very competitively priced and get alot of applicants. After their credit is approved then comes the interview, err,,, showing. They have to bring EVERYONE who is to live in the apartment. All the kids, cousins, whatever. You Black, White ? no problem. Got teenage kids ? How are their grades ? Yes indeed. The law says you cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed or religion, and I have no intention of doing so. It doesn't say anything about any other criteria you may use in choosing tenents. Look at the ridiculous pacts people sign to get into a certain condo development. First hand I have seen people in $300,000 houses not allowed to put up Christmas decorations on the house. Are they kidding ? He thought he bought the place, but appartently not. Rant over. T
