Yes, I see what you're saying. We need a "solution" to the "Republican and Tea Party" problem.

If only there was a way to be rid of them.

Thanks to gerrymanderings in favor of Republicans currently elected, I do not see the current problem being fixed. If anything, we'll see the problem get worst with less sane Republicans and more screwball Tea Partiers. This nation barely survived one Ted Cruz, how about twenty?

I think you missed the allusion, but in all fairness I hold that to your credit.

I think I caught it (even before this last bit). I almost messaged you to ask if you really wanted to go there but I think your analogy is fairly close to the mark, evidenced by some of the postings in P&R over the years.

ETA: and that's my final word on that!

Interesting. This kind of unrest in a society is usually a sign that its leadership is failing.

Of course, now that you mention it...

The leadership is doing just fine. Now if we just removed those useless Republicans and Tea Party members from Congress, this nation could get things accomplished in a major way.

But I'll meet you half way on your viewpoint; the Republican/Tea Party leadership really sucks. Maybe they should hire people that are more 'sensible' and less 'lunatic'....

Are you suggesting a one party political system?

Whether we want to admit it or not, the GOP has pulled a few good things as has the Democrats.

Unfortunately, moderates are rarely elected regardless of party.

not really.. this is just a few (dangerous) nutbars.. dumb enough to attempt to carry out their inept plan (in social media no less)..

a handful of nutbars (in a country of 300+ million) isn't a sign of anything really.. OWS was the "social unrest" that was a sign its leadership has failed.. but that is all it was.. an impotent "sign" that never amounted to anything (since the leadership basically ignored them until they just went away/home & were forgotten)..

Perhaps the moral of the story (for plotting nutbars) is.. be careful who you friend on FB!

I just got off the phone with my son and I mentioned that I thought the show "House of Cards" was more real than the evening news. He thought I wasn't cynical enough.

Because most people when it comes to politics are led not by respecting their leaders but how well those leaders share the same political outlooks and beliefs of the individual. Therefore nearly all conservatives will say President Obama has no leadership ability, and just the same of liberals saying former President George W. Bush had the same! So 'political leadership' is more about how that leadership's qualities match the individual rather than the true form of leadership being placed on display.

To be fair, I thought they were both self-evidently great leaders. I mean seriously... in each case they rose to the rank of POTUS and I have not. It seems sort of ridiculous to say they are not "leaders". What I think is that both of them are evil sons of bitches just of a slightly different stripe.

This is how the lunatic fringe justifies themselves......

We all know(normal,non-republican/non-nra folks)that pediphile/republican ted nugent and Mr Sarah Palin were separatists and advocating violence long before President Obama was elected.

I blame geopee leadership and fucks-new`s vile/dark propaganda for the damage they inspire and call for.

No wonder the cult members are so defensive and all denial all day....

Oh I have great hopes of the progress being made on the problem in just a few months, with the stinging defeat and loss of the senate by the Democrats.

And great hopes that the country will have enough of the corrupt, incompetent buffoonish dims in 2016.

Right now, the Republican/Tea Party is doing the worst possible job to America's form of government. Democrats, unfortunately are not to fair behind. People argue that both parties are really one and the same. So here is my take....

I feel the best way for us to have a good government is to have some good old fashion competition. When its between just two individuals is it really a contest? When all those individuals lined up for the Republican nomination in 2012; was that the BEST Americans of the Republican Party could muster to br President? I imagine conservatives dislike the Democrat's nominee. But its the cost to run for that office that blows me away. Even to run for a senator or representative is some serious resources. Yet, most Americans have virtually no chance of ever seeing any of those offices. How many people in Congress are registered nurses? Firemen? US Soldiers? Network Administrators? Verses being a lawyer? Should we not be surprised at the stale mate of events in Congress?

Gerrymandering I think most of us, if not all if us, agree, has not much more damage than good. But if that is to be outlawed, a system would have to be put in place by which populations are determined fairly without bias towards one political outlook or another. This would take an amendment, since its amending the current Constitution. itself. My thinking is a grid format. How the specifics are figured out, I just do not have a good amount of detail on.

Second this is to limit political donations. While the argument is made that 'money talks' and therefore should be as free as possible under the 1st amendment. I do believe wisdom should over-rule the concept in that we have seen in recent history. That money influences a tiny group of Americans with more power than the masses; that some Americans are more citizen then most other citizens (to take a nod towards Animal Farm...). Perhaps each citizens can only spend up to $12,500 in a four year period? For most Americans, that's a huge some of money. For those in the top 0.5% of wealthy Americans that not even a drop in the 500 gallon barrel! Should not 'We the People' decide on things, and not a tiny nobility? Money is both a source of free speech, but it also has the power to corrupt things utterly. There are more than enough examples of this throughout the world!

When we vote, are we voting for the individual or their party? That candidates must obey the party or else really! There are Democrats that support the idea of individual firearm ownership just as there are Republicans in favor of decent regulations. But these people are never going to be heard.

An get rid of the Electoral College. Its a popularity contest plan and simple. There is no reason for the Republican leaning folks in Massachusetts to go to the polls, when election after election, the commonwealth sides with Democrats. Or of Democrats in Texas, since it seems to go to Republicans.

What I'm trying to get across here, is that we can not fix the problems in this country until we fix the election process itself. That would be the logical start, right? I suspect the Republicans, Tea Party and even the Democrats would fight any and all changes, since it would reduce their powerbase.

But we Americans will end up doing what we do every four years: Bitch high and wide at the election process and allow the problems to persist. Rather then get off our collective butts and do something useful, we'll just obey the nobility class in the country....

Your welcome to believe that fantasy. Unfortunately, many more Americans are pissed at how Republicans are running things in Congress. Last I checked, the President (whom is a Democrat) is at his job 24/7/365. How many Republicans can say the same in the House of Representatives? An that Democrats in 2016 will have two former Presidents in good standings with moderates and liberals, stumping for the Democrat's nomination. How many Republicans want George W. Bush stumping for them?

I got it. You quite approve of the idea.

The only idea I "approve" of is that this kind of unrest in a society is usually a sign that its leadership is failing. The clue to this possibly obscure fact is that those are the words that appear above next to my name. Everything else is your imagination. Got it now?

You support violence. I got it the first time.

You put your own words in other people's mouths. I got that a long time ago.
