I am once again debating which christmas movies to watch.

The choices are:

Die Hard
Die hard 2
Lethal Weapon
Kiss Kiss bang bang
the ice harvest
the last boy scout....

My favorite rear was Tom Hanks's in Turner and Hooch, black speedo. Only time in my life I've ever drooled over someone in a speedo

We're watching "A Christmas Story," which I've never seen. That was his pick. Mine was "Religulous," but I forgot to get it.

I didn't remember that "Gremlins" had a Christmas theme, and have requested it via my library system, along with "Religulous."

The Time of the Doctor.

You might have to wait a couple of days; it doesn't air until the BBC runs it on Christmas day.

Actually, the movie I want to watch deals with an unofficial christmas truce across no man's land during world war one that was made back in the thirties. It was shown a few years ago on TCM.

There are several movies about this. I'm guessing, if the movie you are talking about was made in the 30's, you are talking about "All Quiet on the Western Front."

There is also "Joyeoux Noel" made in 2005 but that's in French. "A Midnight Clear" is a fictional account from World Warr II.

I've only seen the last of those but it is very well done.

No, All Quiet deals with the end of the war. Christmas 1914, much of both sides stopped fighting and came out to give gestures of goodwill to the other. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/25/weekinreview/25word.ready.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

I am trying to decide whether that is incredibly heartwarming or extremely heartbreaking. I'll let you know after the allergy fit goes away and I can see again.

I try to avoid the B&W movies...but I do love Last Holiday and some of the movies on the Hallmark Channel. One of the movies has a romantic twist (the New York ad CEO fell in love with his houseshare mate's sister, the other guy fell in love with the CEO's assistant).

2 b & w movie classics I love:
Miracle on 34th St.
Bells of St Mary's

There's a few others of course, but I have them on DVD already. And damn Ted Turner for having the gall to colorize.
