To those who celebrate it, or just those who want a positive thought for the day, a Happy Winter Solstice!

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, this is the shortest day. The least amount of sunlight will we have in the entire year. In My corner of the world, this means that the sun will hover just above the horizon for four hours and thirteen minutes. (Kind of makes a person glad there are other ways of having sunshine in their life.)

Happy "shortest day" everybody!

Solstice, and Yuletide blessings to all. the boy and I have celebrated tonight, and candles have been lit to bring back the light.

if only it seemed to get light as quickly as it seems to get dark.

May the blessing of light be on you—
light without and light within.

I went to a really nice Solstice celebration last year, my first, during which I "planted a seed" or otherwise sent out energy to draw a mate to me and it worked!

We spent the day visiting my father, who is 90 minutes away, and then my brother, who is an hour away at the moment. My brother is mentally ill and confined to the Worcester Recovery Center for a 40 day evaluation, so the visit was on a locked ward, and I really appreciate my man's willingness to not only go, but to engage my brother.

We climbed up a mountain last night, lit a fire and sat under the stars. The winter solstice is a good time to be at one with nature.

Summer Solstice here in New Zealand....
Long Summer evenings..... I know how quickly time will pass, and Winter days will be here all too soon.
Wishing everyone a relaxing and joy filled holiday season.

At 12:11 yesterday (the moment of solstice) I figured this would be appropriate to listen to.
