The vid says this is Bob Rivers also, but I'm not so sure that's true. I've heard it attributed to someone else, though I don't remember who. It's really well done, whoever created it.

That being said, I do have two Christmas themed songs that I do enjoy (and don't make me want to gouge out my ear drums with a screwdriver):

"Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" by John Lennon (and Yoko Ono in really tiny print)
"Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid

Father Christmas by the Kinks. Christmas used as an excuse for singing about the class system. Because English.

It's Cliched to be Cynical at Christmas by Half Man Half Biscuit. HMHB take a break from being grumpy about hallmark CDs, Pete Doherty and people who walk in the middle of the pavement to get into the festive spirit.

We're All Going to Die by Malcolm Middleton. Drunken Scottish miserablist releases possibly the least appropriate Christmas single ever. The video needs watching to get the full Christmasy effect.

There's nothing wrong with that at all! Some "Christmas" songs don't even mention Christmas at all.
Heck, I catch myself singing the dreidel song sometimes.

To answer your question, no I don't usually like the off beat songs. My favorites have always been the older classics sung by artists like James Taylor and Johnny Mathis.
And the Trans Siberian Orchestra is awesome.

I have no favorites really. I am Paganistic/Shaman but I do put up a tree for the kids and buy presents. If Mom does not mind, I go outside and dance around on the 21st, honoring the Solstice
