...and it tastes like shit.

Arm and Hammer shit that tastes like they believe salt should be the main ingredient, followed by something not at all sweet (and somewhat less than agreeable).

Thought I was doing something good here but....I'm debating my assumptions.

I find that Colgate Whitening Cinnamon flavor is the best tasting toothpaste...that whole thing about baking soda being the best I think isn't really true....maybe back in the 50's it was.

I know that is a joke but what would the name of it be?

Crown Royal Toothpaste on rocks.

It takes several hours to fully brush.

Lucylastic -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/2/2013 7:07:13 PM)

mouthwash too?

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/2/2013 7:15:45 PM)

You'd just get jaded if EVERYTHING you put in your mouth tasted yummy. Keep that baking soda toothpaste; build character.

It's in development. I'm working very closely with upper management.

It is the ultimate conundrum, I have to concur.

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/2/2013 9:16:48 PM)

been there, done that, tooth paste that tastes awful. i also hate the super intense spearmint mintier than hell kind cuz it burns my mouth and dries me out.

obedientnwilling -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/2/2013 10:34:13 PM)

Colgate works for me. I didn't mind the Arm & Hammer too bad.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/2/2013 10:40:26 PM)

Baking soda toothpaste tastes terrible to me, and it makes my mouth sore for some reason. Yechhhhh! [:'(]

I like Colgate Total with a spritz of Natural White peroxide on top to keep the fangs pearly white.

Paladin9 -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/3/2013 7:05:45 PM)

The purpose of toothpaste is to remove plaque. You need an abrasive, even gels have some abrasives in them.
My Dad was pharmacist apprentice back when they made the medicine in the drug store and his statement always was "If it tastes good it doesn't work". His favorite mix was a form of explosive put into Vaseline jars and set on the street car tracks. LOL

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/3/2013 7:18:30 PM)

Sweet toothpastes contain SUGAR, or SACCARIDE, or other sweeteners (they used to list them on the labels). Stick with the NON-sweet ones.

White paste tends to have better whitening properties, especially if it has baking soda and peroxide. Most gels contain blue or green DYE which in My experience can actually STAIN your teeth.

I agree with others here, Colgate (total whitening) is one of the best (though nasty tasting).

In a pinch you can actually make your own with a palmful of baking soda, a splash of peroxide, and stir it with your brush.

Always brush for at least 2 minutes, get all angles, and DON'T FORGET YOUR TONGUE...especially if one of your chores is polishing Mistress' black patent boots!

All of My boys are expected to maintain good brushing habits. Yucky teeth and tongues gross Me out!

Buy a Sonicare Electric Toothbrush...Floss each day and use the Sonicare twice a day for two minutes each time and you are guaranteed better if not perfect check-ups at the dentist!

No lie. I actually worked on a project to make bacon flavored toothpaste. It didn't turn out so well...lol.

obedientnwilling -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/5/2013 5:17:28 AM)

Bacon-flavored toothpaste? O.o

Cool.

As far as home-made stuff, if you really wanted to be cute, you could try adding cocoa powder. Your friends would think you're crazy, which is always a good thing. You could also try experimenting with instant coffee. If whiteness is not your priority, I can guarantee you'd have healthy choppers, and you could enjoy people staring at you as if you were some kind of mutant swamp creature. The stains could probably be cut with some turmeric mixed with mustard oil.

HAHAHA! Because SCIENCE!

Paladin9 -> RE: I've been using this toothpaste... (12/7/2013 1:37:14 PM)

For people who don't like to floss, like me, the dentist has small brushes that you can slide between your teeth that keeps that between the teeth areas clean. I get mine from my dentist but drug stores probably carry them too. They are in their own plastic tubes and are smaller than a cigarette.
