“If you like what you’ve got, you can keep it.” This is a promise young people heard clearly, and it’s one President Obama needs to keep — even if it requires a change in the law.

Well, first off Obama didn't say "cross your heart and hope to die".
Then, how at this point do you give these affected people their plans back ? Wouldn't Obamacare have to go back to congress to rework the law ? What about the insurance companies ? Do they start over and give these people their same plan back and make a different plan for the same age and health risks for the newer people who enroll ? Actually if everyone including those of us who have insurance through our employers get to keep what we have, wouldn't that mean Obamacare is affectively repealed, assuming an act of congress ?

Yeah, GO CLINTON GO!!!!!!!

When you misspeak, or choose your words poorly as you want to put, you do it once or twice. It is a lie when repeat it over and over again for nearly 3 years. He new damm well what he was saying.

I prefer to think he misspoke over and over again :-)
I prefer to think that he gave Americans enough credit to realize that minimums would have to be set...i"m assuming you were smart enough to understand that, right servant?
Surely you weren't stupid enough to believe that there would be a MANDATE and yet policies not worth the paper they were printed on could be kept....please tell me you aren't that dense ?

not gonna happen Mike, and welcome back honey:)

Fine servant.....he lied ,happy now?
Here's the deal though....it doesn't matter.
The law is here and it's not going anywhere ?
Those plans are gone and they aren't coming back.
Those plans were substandard....do you understand what that means?
They weren't worth the paper they were written on...the folks who have had plans cancelled are better off for it .
At the end of the day they will now have coverage that is worth something...and the rest of us won't have to pay for their care when they need it, and they will...sooner or later.

It appears President Clinton thinks otherwise.

Sooner or later ? I would place my money on later, if ever. The ACA act is falling apart on it's on accord. It is a joke and the chosen one is becoming a laughing stock because of it.

That's just it, Mike. Conservative talking heads were all over the President back in 2010 about how these plans were going to disappear. That didn't stop him, though.

For better or for worse I believe the President said what he had to say to get the law passed....I like sausage but I don't like to see how it's made.
This is all unfortunate but at the end of the day,lie or not ,this President accomplished what no one was able to do since Roosevelt(Teddy) namely :reform health care and start us on the road to single payer(something else he lied about....lol)

The problem is that these plans could very well have been exactly what these people wanted, regardless of what President Obama or Kathleen Sebelius thinks. The "standards" are there to increase the costs on some so others won't have increased costs. That's it. You are no longer allowing people the freedom to choose what they think is best for themselves. Someone who's been covered for years and years might find it odd that the plan he's been happy with and the plan that he accepts the premium cost for, isn't good enough now, even though it's been just fine for years and years.

What the hell does "what these people wanted" have to do with a law that MANDATES that ALL buy health insurance have to do with anything ?
Come on DS you're smarter than that...if I can mandate that Joe Schmoe buy a plan why can't I tell Jane Smith that her plan is inadequate ?

No,Im not....but I know a lie when I hear a lie....and that one was as clear as a bell.
Anyone with any intelligence understood that where there is a requirement that someone own something than it would follow that there would be a minimum standard set
Once you accepted that proposition than it followed that some policies would fall below that standard....ipso facto "If you like your plan ,you can keep your plan " wasn't going to work where those plans didn't meet the standard.
This isn't rocket surgery :-)

Apparently you are. You seem perfectly willing to blow it off because you approve of the end result in this case.

Take heart, you are in good company. Near as I can tell, few Americans care about the honor, honesty, and integrity of the people they give power to... much to my personal amazement.

Is this where we queue that frog & scorpion story again?

Me? I'm less convinced that it was a "lie" rather than a failure to accurately predict the future in all it's permutations. I'm still waiting to get some sort of statistics I can actually trust on how many people are gaining vs. losing with the ACA. So jury's out in my mind on this one.

Actually, for the most part they're not substandard. Single men or older couples don't need prenatal care but their stuck with it now. My plan was forced to change from employee and spouse to a family plan along with the hefty increase. We have no kids but what the fuck, Obama says we need this plan. There are sick people and even stage 4 cancer patients who have been dropped and forced to seek new freakin way more expensive plans with way more freakin higher deductibles who were happy with what they had and are now terrified. There are families who have been dropped who can't afford the new way more expensive freakin plan who face going without.

This way kewl freakin train wreck is expected to dump tens of millions more of theses so called substandard plans to plans approved by liberals with their increased costs, higher deductibles and all the rest of it.

We could actually end up with fewer people who don't gave health insurance.

"How President Obama Will Use ‘Keep Your Plan’ Bill to Trap Republicans"

http://www.mediaite.com/online/how-president-obama-will-use-keep-your-plan-bill-to-trap-republicans/

Republicans, meanwhile, sense weakness, and push a huge pile of chips into the pot. The President lied! People being cancelled must be protected! On this, all depends! Then, along comes Bill Clinton to raise the pot some more, and as Republicans happily come along, several Democrats are already folding. It’s unclear whether Bubba is in on this play, but what he has done is handed President Obama a shot at winning this hand, or at least chopping the pot.

At this point, the Republicans’ chips are riding on something called the “Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013,” which will “authorize health insurance issuers to continue to offer for sale current individual health insurance coverage” as grandfathered ACA plans. This bill, and others like it, have received signs of support from some Democrats. Among its many problems, though, is the fact that the “Keep Your Health Plan” act is a “lie” to the exact extent that the President’s pledge was. Allowing insurance companies to continue selling pre-Obamacare plans does nothing to guarantee they will, and so, does nothing to guarantee people can “keep their plan.”

So you see, here is the thing you liberals don't get.

Those plans weren't worth the paper they were printed on *to you*.
The rest of us, for the most part prefered them.

The ability to choose plans that are tailored to what we want - is what we want - not plans designed to inject money into dimocratic interest groups.

Here's the next thing you don't get. Obamacare has already erased the shutdown as an issue. Check the polls. If the repubs had the brains God gave a flea - they pass another clean CR at existing funding levels just to remove the issue from the table.

And let the 2014 elections be about obamacare.

Newsflash. Its going to get worse. Much, much worse.

Already Dims are trying to find a way to let people - ya know.. keep their insurance. Except they can't. Neither statutorily nor can the insurance industry just all of a sudden rescind millions of cancellation notices.

The insurance companies can not just resign provider networks. They'd have to re set the plans up in their systems. Reprice. Distribute them to agents. And then they'd have to guess what percent of the people that cancelled are actually going to come back.

Insurance companies hate to guess. They don't want an insurance pool suddenly sicker & poorer that they don't have a handle on the risks.

Here's a newsflash. The capacity of the government healthcare system is only 20K-30K because of their stupid architecture. And even if they resolve the website issues (they won't) - they won't resolved the backend problems to the insurers before the end of december.

More newsflashes: look for the stories in first quarter to be about insurance subsidy fraud boosting costs WAY higher than expected. Which will be OK with obama-ites - but will continue bad headlines into summer.

Next rounds of stories: reduced networks. Doctors opting out (you can't make them work you know). People not finding doctors.

And then the absolute failure to meet enrollment goals.

The story over the entire summer will be perhaps government is not the solution to (everything).

Second quarter - some bright people will realize that consumer spending is flat - due to increased spending on insurance.

And right about then - democrats are going to get very very nervous.

No, not could. As I've been saying for over a month now. Will.

We will end up with fewer people that have health insurance - to the tune of millions of people less.

As it stands 50 million people will lose insurance. Give me a road map to getting 50 million people on insurance -- since the goal for obamacare was 30 oops 7 million - and they won't achieve more than 1 on real insurance.

Great job, libtards.
