"liberals who got suckered into thinking Obama shared their values"

So who are these imaginary liberals and why are you so concerned about their imagined bad feelings?

Still all burned up by what Cindy Sheehan did to shrub, maybe?[:D]

I`ll say one thing, never...ever, even during the days when the blood guzzling gop psychopaths were feeding our boys one at a time into the Iraqi meat-grinder did I worry or give a fuck about what shrub`s sycophants thought of him....

"liberals who got suckered into thinking Obama shared their values"

Implies that no liberals are hawks. Which is truly stupid and/or intentionally a lie. Maybe someday soon cons will stop trying to define liberals as everything negative for America.

In reality many liberals are hawks. Primarily our differences with hawkish cons is we'd prefer our military be used in places like Sudan and the former Yugoslavia rather than in imperial misadventures in places like Iraq.

EdBowie -> RE: Something for liberals to be proud of (11/9/2013 1:30:51 PM)

Isn't part of having a set of beliefs, the disappointment of knowing that any politicians powerful enough to effect changes you really want to see, are also utterly corrupted by said power?

No more than Democrats are all burned up by what they did to Cindy Sheehan, once she wasn't a convenient tool to rape anymore.

Interesting, your distinction. [8|]

Bitter bitter.....[;)]

Hating the president so much they want others to also......enjoy yourself[:D]

Like I said 5 years ago when Sarah palin helped us win (and helped your party`s spit)...all the President has to do is show and not fuck up like bush did and he`ll be fine.....

And it`s true.....even with taking on some quite challenging issues....issues that make republican testicles retract and atrophy...the President`s numbers are pretty high and light-years ahead of your party`s.

Somehow we`re supposed to be all discontented but we aren`t.....

Maybe you can prove this isn`t all in your head and show us all these liberals who`re upset about our drone program?

Eight of the most liberal Democrats in Congress have signed a letter asking Obama to reveal the legal basis for his use of drones in America and abroad.

The Democrats' move is clearly a follow-up to Rand Paul's 13-hour filibuster last Thursday. But the Democrats' missive focuses more on drone strikes overseas than did Paul's filibuster, which honed in on the killing of Americans on US soil. The letter worries that with many other nations acquiring drones, the Obama administration is setting a dangerous precedent that could damage international security.

"Every American has the right to know the underlying legal rationale that ensures due process," says the letter, obtained by Politico.

It's signed by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), John Conyers (D-MI), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), Donna Edwards (D-MD), Mike Honda (D-CA), Rush Holt (D-NJ) and James McGovern (D-MA).

I'd say important not so interesting since anyone paying attention already knew that.

At least we don`t have a president and party turning our proud nation into a torture nation.....

No, instead we have them selling us all into slavery and eroding constitutional rights to the point of non-existence. I'd prefer the torture nation frankly.

Then again, I've always preferred wolves in wolf's clothing. I particularly detest Obama because he plays the good guy. At least with Bush & Cheney you got what you saw... unmitigated evil.

And all the while, except for a couple Ted Rall types who haven't fled the country, people who actually hold the values of liberalism dear are just impotently watching it happen.

To be fair, my solution was "flee the country". America isn't setup to have a 3rd party. Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right.

Where is the safe port in this storm? Who, other than Elizabeth Warren, is saying much of anything worth hearing in DC nowadays?

At least not while we have what amounts to a single party media.

Now, we had somebody mention Cindy Sheehan earlier, and there is a fine example. When her message slid easily into the template created by that media, she was famous. When the template changed, Cindy Sheehan kept right on doing what she had been doing, but all the cameras went away. Ever read Ted Rall's whine columns, about how he needs money? He's the one that coined the term, Obamabot, to describe what has happened to the left.

If there is a "single party media" it is the "Republocrat Party" -- eg: The Corporatists. My understanding was that it's the winner take all nature of the elections along with the electoral college which prevents a real multi-party system.

No. Some of the interests at the very top of the ladder are certainly corporate, but what binds them together is power, not money. Those who want mindless consumers to drain have a lot in common with those who want mindless sheep to rule, but they are not one and the same.

Get down to the "news" product that is produced though, and just the stories they choose to run with tell the tale.

So what is the issue...which you obviously have a problem with....[;)]

Our party isn`t splitting up, btw....over this or any other issue.....

What`s the big deal here again? [:D]

When bush was as lethal to our own troops.................. and good, thoughtful and caring Americans begged him to stop......he called himself "the decider"...[8|]

And when shrub farted out that diss....he wasn`t a satire lace self criticism on where he found himself.....

It was a double down on a murderously inept and deadly management of a fraudulent war he tricked us into.....

Kinda distinguishes the men from the bois.
