They are now claiming Skakel was inadequately represented in his murder trial. Uh huh, you know those Kennedys, they can't afford good legal representation.

Considering the lawyer has himself been in jail for tax fraud, you can't think he's a top notch attorney.

It is the universal reaction to being held accountable: blame your lawyer!

But usually judges don't come down hard on lawyers for multiple points of inadequacy.

It's not a bad argument, but it almost never wins a request for appeal.

Often, when people lose their court case they blame their lawyer, but when they win, it's because they deserved to win, not because of their lawyer's skill.

You never see a poor lawyer. over here they're called solicitors/barristers, I wouldn't trust one as far as I could throw his bank balance.

I used to do a lot of work in the magistrates court. Since I was in the court the whole time, I got to see a lot of them interacting both during a hearing and during the down time when the magistrates and public weren't present. It seemed that the solicitors who were most impressive in court, were the ones that I couldn't stand on a personal level.

Just so I don't offend any solicitors here - there were a bunch who seemed fine both professionally and personally, but we would often joke that if we were in trouble, we'd have to think hard about whether it was worth the trade off to hire one of the sleezy ones.

A friend of mine is a practicing solicitor, he's also a very fine multi instrumentalist, he's good at everything...bugger !
