You know your friend better than anyone...I'd let your instincts tell you what to do. My best friend knows...not that I tell her major details because it's a little outside her understanding, but she's met my Master, and she knows I'm happy and that's all that matters to her anyway. My brother also knows, but he's also not into conventional relationships, so I have no concerns about him thinking I'm crazy. Choosing someone to tell is a matter of knowing the people well enough to already know their reaction.

I also am new to this, although I have been interested for as long as I can remember, before I kept my interests hidden, but now I am being honest,I have told my friends, they are ok with it,and one of them has even asked me where they could obtain something for their own play, although they 'say' they are not kinky. As for my parents and other family,I suspect they know, but I feel what I do is none of their business and so am not going to say anything about this to them.

There is a sense of great comfort when "coming out".  I do feel that this should be done tactful though.  To much information is just as bad as not enough.  I will touch on the subject and let their curiosity seek the rest, and it does.  As always, , ignorance of the subject can cause harsh judgement.

Hello all,

I recently told a life long friend about my interest in D/s and BDSM. I felt that she would be one to not pass judgement and may only just worry. I was correct. It was such a relief to have a friend to talk to, even though she is vanilla and understands little. I also talked to her about the safety aspect and what I do for that, she is also now my safety call, if needed.

I reminded her also, that the "scariest" man I had ever dated was long ago & I met him at church. Go figure!
