Several hundred thousand people got insurance in one day. Considering the load issues that is pretty good IMO.

Do you have a source for that? I can't find any source for the number of applications that have been received.

The democrats have publicly stated that they would definitely entertain a one year delay (they pretty much have given it to business) because of the recalcitrance of the teabaggers.
They will not consider it concurrently with a continuing appropriations bill, however. pass the clean bill and make a clean bill of this policy, and by god, it will have a hella chance passing.

I don't trust them to pass the delay bill after passing a clean CR.

If roles were switched, I wouldn't trust the GOP to do that, either.

And nobody trusts the teabaggers to pass a clean anyfuckingthing.

Two days ago the "teabaggers" passed a clean bill fully funding the Federal government, including fully funding the PPACA ("Obamacare") as originally passed by the House and Senate and signed by the usurper POTUS -- but Harry Reid effectively told the "teabaggers" to shove it.

A couple days ago the usurper, in admonishing the "teabaggers", adamantly proclaimed: "It's the law" (Obamacare). It is indeed the law, and the law doesn't include any of the delays, exceptions or waivers the usurper and his administration have granted, and the U.S. Constitution doesn't grant the POTUS (or anyone else in the Executive branch) the authority to grant such.

Nope, they did no such thing. That bill would be on their site, and it is not. All their other dogshit bills are on the site.

But the usurpers and republitards and teabaggers down there in the congress are destroying the country, and thankfully themselves along with it.

If several hundred thousand people actually got health insurance in one day via online Obamacare exchanges, Federal and/or State, you can bet your last penny that the usurper and/or his minions would have been all over the msm pointing that out. His silence is golden.

Here's a link to the most recent accounting I could find at the moment:

http://beforeitsnews.com/events/2013/10/exclusive-less-than-1-of-visitors-are-signing-up-for-obamacare-on-state-health-exchange-websites-californias-health-insurance-exchange-converted-an-estimated-0-58-per-cent-of-its-online-visitors-2431910.html

Note that most people reporting on their experience with the exchanges have said that they had to submit all sorts of personal information (name, address, dob, ssn, current insurance if any, etc, etc.) before the system would let them see the various plans and rates -- that personal info stays in system, and subject to use by other government agencies and/or hackers, even if you don't get insurance.

You've made this claim several times but no news source seems to have noticed and I can't find any such legislation on any site either.

Edit: It's just a plain flat out lie. The house passed only 2 CR's. The first defunded all of the ACA and the second delayed section for a year and repealed the medical device tax. So there was no CR pass by the House as Jim described.

The healthcare.gov site im told is still not up and running, why?

Have you tried it? I can go to the site, but I can't used it, because my state, like most, set up it's own exchange. Maryland's site had too-heavy traffic the first day and so was really glitchy, but is now working pretty much fine.

It certainly doesnt pertain to government or big business donators... of course, they're excluded.

It actually does apply to them. But the Feds already give their full-time employees good affordable insurance, so nothing is changed there. Big businesses will also be required to (and most do already), though that was pushed back a year. Not sure if that was cowardice or what.

quote:

You opt out, dont have insurance... you get fined. You dont pay it, they suspend your drivers license, house liens and so on.

Actually, no. The fine will be deducted from your tax refund, and if you don't get a refund, they send a bill. If you don't pay the bill, it just gets added to your taxes for the next year. The ACA doesn't allow the kind of penalties you mention.

By the by... CA, the bluest state in the union, had 770k unique hits for ACA, of which .058 actually signed up. Thats less than 1%.

Sure. Since none of the plans start until January, and the mandate isn't until March, most people are just window-shopping right now.

ETA: Also, if you want to apply for subsidies, they require a bunch of information to verify your eligibility, which people may not have immediately on hand. I signed up for a site account last night, and started on the application, but I don't know D's SS# or his income for this year, and he was sleeping, so we'll do it another time.

The House even passed a bill stating they would fully fund the Unaffordable Care Act as it was originally passed with no waivers for big business, federal employees, or Congress.

Can you give me a link to this bill? I'm curious, because every news I've read says that the bill they passed would force the delay I mentioned above.

Since nobody, NOBODY, has a clue about Obamacare, Using figures about the amount of people trying to sign up, and using those figures as some measure of success is bullshit. Freeloaders will sign up for dogshit if they think they are getting something for FREE!

Wait 'till they find out its not totally free, and there will be co-pays, etc, then lets see how "successful" Obamacare is.

individual mandate and fines.

So just that I understand this, people object to being forced to buy insurance or provide proof they can self-insure?

Why Conservatives Are Saying Obamacare Could Take Your House
—By Erika Eichelberger| Thu Oct. 3, 2013 9:29 AM PDT

The health insurance exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act opened for business on Tuesday, allowing uninsured Americans to buy subsidized coverage. By Wednesday, conservative websites had a fresh conspiracy theory running: if you decline to purchase health insurance, the feds may put a lien on your home.

InfoWars cites this Facebook post as proof:

I actually made it through this morning at 8:00 A.M. I have a preexisting condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and my income base was 45K-55K annually I chose tier 2 'Silver Plan' and my monthly premiums came out to $597.00 with $13,988 yearly deductible!!! There is NO POSSIBLE way that I can afford this so I 'opt-out' and chose to continue along with no insurance.

I received an email tonight at 5:00 P.M. informing me that my fine would be $4,037 and could be attached to my yearly income tax return. Then you make it to the 'REPERCUSSIONS PORTION' for 'non-payment' of yearly fine. First, your drivers license will be suspended until paid, and if you go 24 consecutive months with 'Non-Payment' and you happen to be a home owner, you will have a federal tax lien placed on your home. You can agree to give your bank information so that they can easy 'Automatically withdraw' your 'penalties' weekly, bi-weekly or monthly! This by no means is 'Free' or even 'Affordable.'

The Affordable Care Act itself states that the IRS cannot file a lien on a property because an uninsured person fails to pay a penalty. Nor can it seize bank accounts or garnish paychecks to recover Obamacare fines. Nor will Americans who refuse to pay for mandatory health insurance be subject to criminal prosecution of any kind.

Infowars acknowledges all this, but concludes that the Facebook poster, Will Sheehan, still might be right: "Either Sheehan’s claim that he received this notice is a lie, or the feds have been dishonest with the American people all along, and the revolt against Obamacare is about to take 'don't tread on me' to a whole new level."

As Obamacare moves from legislation to reality, many of the old conspiracy theories making the chain email rounds will be laid to rest. It seems there will be no shortage of new tin foil hat tales to take their place.

Wow, that's so much BS from that guy! Not just on the driver's license/lien stuff (which is false) and fine (which is not nearly that much), but also on the premium and deductible.

I browsed some of the plans myself, seeing how much they would cost without subsidies. For the "silver" plans, was more like $200-250/month with a $500-1000 deductible. (For comparison, when I went to COBRA my last employer-based insurance, it was $400/month for a plan with a $3k deductible.)
