Spouses of politicians usually don't do that, regardless of which one is which gender. It's not weird because she's a Republican or a woman, it's weird because she's the spouse of a politician.

Saying "most Republican women don't do [that]" is true, but misleading. The wife of a Democrat, husband of a Republican, or husband of a Democrat would all most likely refrain from making a public statement contrary to the views or policy choices of his/her spouse.

Agreed. If Michelle Bachman's husband went public saying he thought gay marriage should be legal, everybody would be pretty shocked, too. (Well, maybe not that shocked. )

Though I don't think a lot of prominant Republicans in general would go on TV supporting a woman's right to choose.

I know a lot of republican women and I can't think of one who has any problems telling her husband her opinion. But I suppose we can't have a p&r thread without trying to make 1/2 the country look like idiots.

As for anybody making themselves look like idiots, Gov. Perry has done that...all on his own.

Mosts republican women dont have the media to talk with... but yanno just ignore what she said...and make it about a liberal poster.

No they don't, but that is not what the op implied. As to what she said, she said it's a women choice. Makes sense to me, did you have a problem with that?

We almost assuredly would not have this post or know 'what she said' if the Texan 1st lady didn't have the Tribune to interview her. I understand the resulting question then becomes, what does hubby do about it ?

The right has no problem with and are all too eager to 'imply' every negative implication they can submit to media about M. Obama...the nation's 1st lady.
